Chocolate linked to weaker bones (http://www.nutraingredients-usa.com/news/ng.asp?n=82549-osteoporosis-flavonols)
They think due to the oxalates in chocolate. But in that case, spinach and lots of vegetables (and grains) would have the same effect.
They also cited sugar (my god, how often does that happen?) as a culprit too. So I figure at least I avoid that bullet.

As almost all 'chocolate' consumed is really chocolate flavored sugar, I think the correlation is to sugar, not chocolate.

Another reason to enjoy cooking chocolate or SF cocoa :p

I don't think cooked chocolate makes a difference since it basically is all cooked. Oxalates aren't destroyed by cooking, AFAIK.

>>>The researchers did no distinguish between types of chocolate consumed.
So you have some women propped up on the couch in front of the TV all day eating crap bonbons from the grocery store, and others munching on a square of 73% cacao after their 2 mile walk outside, and no mention of vitamin D status, and they blame the difference on the chocolate?
Not for my money, thank you.
They also didn't say what the bone density was when they started.
Personally, I suspect the couch-potato connection, plus its implications for vitamin D status, much more than the chocolate. And I didn't see a geography mentioned in the article, which is going to affect vitamin D status even more.
Waste of the taxpayer's dollar, IMO. Whichever nation of taxpayers funded that one.

The article I read also mentioned that the women who had daily chocolate are lower weight....and higher weight builds bones!
