I have been on the Atkins diet. I got off of it for a while and gained nearly 10 pounds back. My New Years resolution is to get into shape and lose the weight again. I'm thinking of a slightly different approach. Can anyone explain to me the difference between Atkins and South Beach?

Thanks.

If you go to pgase 41 of this link, you will see the Food Lists and Meal Plan Charts that will show you how to eat the SB way. It will help you to learn the plan by reading the book too.

We do not count carbs on this plan. We follow the meal plan charts and choose allowable foods from the food lists. This is not a low carb plan.

SB phase I gives you :
unlimited protein and phase I veggies.
2 cups of reduced fat dairy
2 servings of beans/legumes daily 1/3- 1/2 cup is a serving
1 serving of nuts
good fats at each meal
mini meals and snacks during the day
NO Fruit or Starch!

You can print up the lists and charts and use them as reference as you learn this plan....I will tell you this, this is not a diet, it is a lifestyle that you do not stop following wihen you reach your goal...we do not go back to our old eating habits or we will gain the weight back.

Good luck!!
