:) hi everybody. I would like to have your opinion about this.
I've been doing south beach since june and have lost 20 lbs so far. However since october i have hit a plateau and gained 3 pounds back; this has make me feel frustraded because my ideal weight loss goal was to be at 125 for christmas and i'm currently at 135.
I'm planning to eat carbs on these 2 weeks for christmas and start again with the strict phase 1 of south beach. But i guess i just won'y loose as much as i did the first time. Am i right?

Seems like a good plan, just don't go hog wild with the carbs. Doing that can send you into one of those hellish downward spirals that can be really hard to get out of. Trust me, I have been there!

i did phase 1 for a total of 4 weeks and lost 9 lbs. Then the rest of the 12 pounds i've lost them slowly at a rate of 1 lb per week. since late october i stopped loosing weight :(probably because even when i was at the 2nd phase i never ate that much of carbohydrates so it was so difficult for me to following strictly the diet and i started to have "free small meals" on sundays, not that much believe me, but it definitively stalled my weight loss process.
I'm looking forward to janaury 7th, to start again phase 1 and loose the final 10-12 pounds i have.
just one more thing, i'll control myself and won't go hog wild on carbs. Maybe i'll just have more whole wheat bread and cereals for breakfast. On christmas i'm having lots of hummus  and some pastry. mmm cheese cake also it's on my mind :)
i'm just hoping this works and pumps up my metabolism again. I've tried before zig zag calories but it's way to much difficult for me to keep track on it.
well bye for now. I'm open to suggestions :D

We consume carbohydrates in ALL phases of SBD, there are just fewer sources in P1. Most don't lose as much in subsequent go rounds of P1 seems to be the case, yes. good luck!

Yes, weekly "free meals" can often wipe out an entire week's worth of caloric deficit. That is more of a P3 strategy and option, IMO.

Yes...I agree with blaze on this. :agree:
IMO...it is important to begin to see this as a way of eating for life and not just another diet that you go on and off.
Also, when you speak of "carbs"...I do believe that you are referring to refined carbs as in white flour and sugar....breads, cookies, cakes, pies, candies....there are a whole group of "carbs" that are the ones we want to eat and they are veggies, fruits in p2, starchy veggies in p2 and a bit of grain in p2! So when you say you will be eating "carbs"...you are really saying that you are eating off plan....yes?
Its all in how we think and speak of it that can make a lot of difference in our long term success.

I'm planning on starting again too. I'll be starting over on Thursday after my weigh in. I did great last year and now I'm back to where I started. :( I need to plan out my menu ahead of time so I don't get sidetracked; especially at dinner time.

I am starting!!! I am doing basicly a south beach style plan, called the sonoma diet. But I plan on reducing the carbs more than the plan calls for, meaning customizing a little to fit my needs. But I plan on a full south beach style induction. I was glad to see I am not the only one! LOL..

For me it's not "starting over". It's getting strict again. I've been still following Phase 2 for the past 10 days or so - but w/out paying attention to portion control.
So, I'll be tightening up on myself after tonight (where I will snack on hummous and cheese and have a glass or two of champagne).

Today is my "official" start date too for a strict 14 days of Phase 1. I've been following it loosely, but I want to be able to say I've done a full two weeks of phase 1, following it the way it was meant to be followed.
For me anyway, what Dr. A says is true. I found myself feeling truly satiated for the first time in a long time, focusing on lean proteins, good fats, and veggies. But I veered off too much. So it's nice to start afresh on the first day of the new year. Very symbolic!

hello people all there. Hope you had a happy new year and christmas celebration. Well, i must confess something: i'm kind of feeling a little bit bloated and feel my clothes a little more tight. I believe i have gained perhaps 3-5 more pounds and now i'm scared to step into the scale again!!!!
Well my 1st day for phase 1 starts this monday january 7. Hope everything goes well and i loose again 10 pounds and the final 7 pounds doing phase 2.
good bye for now. :D

Hi Jessica,
I'm feeling quite positive and happy & my clothes are OK. In fact, over X-mas my daughter said I should get some new jeans, because the ones I was wearing were kind of loose (these are the same jeans I could not even zip up last year). But... she is at an age where she likes *tight* jeans. I'm still very content in those.
According to my weigh-in, I'm about 3 lbs higher then before the X-mas holidays - but it's that time o' the month, so I am attributing it mostly to that.
Keep positive and focused! :)

Hi everyone:
I am doing Phase 1 over again now that Christmas is over. I decided to let myself enjoy Christmas, but didn't go crazy, with the plan in mind that Dec. 28th I would do the two week phase 1 again just to get myself back on track after allowing myself some Christmas food stuffs.
My hubby is also doing it with me this time so that will be great - we both need to lose 50 Lb's ... I'm sure he'll lose it faster, men always do! He's already lost about 7 Lb's in two days!! I'm up a few pounds, but I'm in this for the long haul - so no worries.
Anyway, I feel much better already after 6 days back on Phase 1 and am looking forward to starting Phase 2, hubby is a couple of days behind me so I will do the extra 2 days with him and then start Phase 2 together. He can't believe how much better he feels already. It's as though the "body" becomes calm :agree:
Had a wonderful Christmas though - and a Very Happy New Year to all!
Let's hope we'll be seeing "less" of each other next year!

Sometimes it's good to satisfy those cravings. Dr. Agatson says that's perfectly fine as long as you get back on track. So don't give up and don't give in because of a few holiday indulgences.

Hi Everyone. I'm a re-starter too as of January 5th.
I have been doing a very strict SBD since August, and lost 7 pounds in 5 months. (I have thyroid issues which makes it terribly hard to lose weight, but not impossible).
My darling mother passed away in November, and I went into a freefall with comfort foods. I'm not sure how much I have gained back - I don't want to get on the scales until I've been back on track for a week.
Good luck to everyone!

Hi Jane:
Sorry to hear about your mum .... I know about comfort foods! I too waited to get back on the scale until I had done a week and a half on Phase I again, so now I'm back to my original weight before Christmas so that's good. This Friday is my last day on Phase I, second time around, so am looking forward to getting back on Phase II and no breaks .... not gonna bother with Turkey dinner for Easter this year, Christmas was enough!
You have my admiration! :agree:
Good luck,
Paula

Oh ya baby, I'm with you!
I had just completed Phase I and lost 12 Lb's, and then I gained some of that back over Christmas - not sure how much 'coz I didn't go near the scale :(
I am finishing Phase I again, as a do-over, this Friday and checked the scale yesterday and I'm back to my pre-Christmas weight again, so that's good .... now I can just continue and back on Phase II on Saturday and no more breaks, that's it! :agree:
Just got this great web site for SB .... you may already have it, but here ya go everyone

I too am recommitting as of today ... doing a clean two weeks. Either I or some other member of the family has been sick on and off since before the holidays and eating healthy hasn't been top priority.
So now ... recommitting and giving myself a jumpstart.

Today was the last day of Phase one for me. I have officially lost 7.1lbs in the last two weeks. I plan on adding in yogurt, sf Jello pudding (love it) and start with apples as my fruit. I just hope my weight loss doesn't slow too much. Keep up the good work ladies, if I can do it, you certainly can. :)

congratulations lightfello!!!!!!!!! good for you .
I started last monday (jan 7) and did quite well during the whole week except for a plain low fat yogurt i had on saturday, and some fried pinto beans i had both on saturday and sunday. (about 1/2 cup on each day for breakfast). Felt some how dissappointed but what the h***, life is in the journey i guess :D... and this week i'll definitively go extra clean.

Good for you  It feels kind of good to start getting things under control again, doesn't it? I know I'm starting to feel a bit better. :)
except for a plain low fat yogurt i had on saturday, and some fried pinto beansWow, if that's the worst you did then all I can say is Congratulations! It's kind of weird to think that a low fat plain yogurt could ever be considered bad for you

Both the plain low fat yogurt and pinto beans are legal for phase I...so I'm confused as to why you are disappointed? If the beans were fried in lard, thats the only :nono:
Have you seen the food lists and meal plan charts on page 41 of the South Beach Babes thread. They come from the official SBD web site.
