Hey.
I came across a product called 'Just the Cheese' and it's popped/baked cheese that comes in various flavors (buttered, nacho, jalapeno, etc). I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it's any good? I was looking for a crunchy, salty snack and since I hate pork rinds, I wondered if this would be a good fit.
The ingredients are just: Natural Cheese (milk, salt, enzymes), spices.
Thanks.

I've tried the butter and nacho flavors. The first couple bites are good, but they are too heavily flavored for me. Then again, that prevents overeating.
One thing these have going for them over other brands is that they're not Parmesan cheese like all the others. I like the parm crackers, but I get tired of them.

Thanks for the response, bike2work. I might pick up a bag to try, but at $3-$4 per small bag, it won't be a regular thing (unless they're freakin' amazing...ha). Thanks again.

You can make your own in the microwave....much cheaper. I take a square of pre-sliced cheese (favorite is muenster, but colby/jack is good, and mozz, cheddar, provolone), put on a square of parchment paper, nuke for 45 seconds (times vary). Drain it on a paper towel. Break into "chips" to scoop tuna salad, or whatever you want. There are varying methods fo rthis, but this is the one I swear by.

Thanks Betsy. It's funny you mention these because I just tried making the cheese crisp things today. I think they were good and I really didn't think they'd be so crispy in the microwave. They're good but a little rich for me. Thanks again.

I tried this one earlier today and it is really good. I thought about the pepperoni slices that you nuke until they are crispy as well. It might be a good snack to try a couple of them together.

I tried the premade ones, but they are not worth the price. I made some cheddar crisps last night. I just use a non stick pan and sprinkle shredded cheddar in to a circle and cook it till it gets a little brown on the edges. Then you flip it and cook just a bit longer.
If you make the crisp big enough, you can form these in to a taco shape and use it for a taco shell. If you just want a cracker sustitute, place it flat on a paper towel and break in to pieces once it cools.

Heaven, I'm in Heaven... *sing with me*. I heart cheese! I'm so glad I read this thread. Being new to this, it's kinda hard to be too creative at first. Thanks!

Plus... they always tasted rancid to me:rolleyes:
I make my own.
Preheat oven to 350-400
Take American cheese slices (the kind they have to slice for you at the deli counter) and cut each slice into 9-12 squares.
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchemt or a silicon mat (I use a silicone mat)
Sprinkle with chili powder.
Bake 5-9 minutes until crips and brown around the edges.
Let cool slightly and enjoy.
These taste like Goldfish to me.

"Just the Cheese" was always too salty for me. I agree...you can make your own from any kind of hard cheese that you can handle....I would start with a blander, unsalted type and season as desired....
