I have a subscription to Shape Magazine ...
I was reading the December issue ... they have a plan in there that is basically Phase 2 of SBD. I have noticed that in several articles in a few magazines that everything they are suggesting is essentially the basics of SBD without giving it the credit.
I think SBD gets rolled into the whole "Atkins"/Low-carb realm unfortunately and they try to write it off as unhealthy.
The Shape Mag touted low-fat protein, veggies, fruits, starchy veg in moderation and whole grains. Healthy fats were a big player ... olive oil and avocado.
Interesting ...

IMO, it's really just a convergence around what constitutes "healthy eating" based on a lot of research over the last ten years or so. FWIW, I think if you want to, you can find elements of the Zone, Sugar Busters, The Glycemic Revolution, and several others in SBD. I don't think our Dr. A really had any new ideas, he just put them together in a marketable package that also happens to work for a lot of people. Personally, I don't really care what we call it or who gets credit, as long as it works and we could actually get people to a stable, manageable and healthy weight range.
