I am 3 weeks into the diet, and I am suddenly tired the past few days? Any one out there know why? What is the carb flu?

hello my name is shanell and i make three weeks tomorrow with 14.5 pounds lost. I have been feeling the same as far as tired and a little weak. I hope someone can answer this for both of us. It will pass though. Keep on going and remember that there are times where you will feel weak and tired, but it beats feeling how you felt before you started.

I would suggest that your taking a good multi vitamin.
I also take a vitamin b-complex. It has helped me.

I am wondering if the time change has anything to do with it. I forgot all about that when I typed the message.

I went through the same thing the first few days. Someone told me it was my body changing over to low carb and getting rid of the last of the sugar and carbs. I started taking One A Day for Energy, and I am up bright eyed in the morning, and don't have to take afternoon nap! I feel so much better when I'm on this diet......why do I ever get off of it????

Dr Atkins talked of people having this reaction during the first week of inductionThat said, there are a few people who experience fatigue or light-headedness during their first week doing Atkins. Most often this means that the process is going too fast for their particular metabolism-they're losing weight too fast, losing water and certain minerals too fast, and their bodies can't keep pace with these quick changes. One sign is ascent weakness: You feel weak walking up stairs. These reactions can be aggravated by hot weather, when you are already losing minerals through sweat, or by taking a diuretic. Obviously, drinking lots of water is essential.
Usually, I advise patients who have these problems to slow down the weight loss. They should add another helping of vegetables to their evening meal or one or two ounces of nuts or seeds. Although their bodies would almost certainly adjust during the second week, there isn't any good reason for feeling washed out and sickly for even one day. After the symptoms abate, go back to the lower level of carb intakeIt may be a similar effect you are experiencing, so adding some extra veggies might help.

Sublingual B12 helped me and also Lcarnitine, coq10 is another good supplement. Make sure you are drinking enough water. Judy

I understand the first week or so on Atkins being tired, but what is happening to the thread starter is happening to me too. I am also on the 4th week of atkins. I figured by the 4th week being weak or tired shouldnt happen. There are days I am full of energy but some days where I feel very lethargic.
Im thinking maybe its from losing so much weight so fast and the body hasnt caught up?

That's what I've heard..that if you lose to fast, your body 'washes out'
I was HORRIBLY tired last week, and I'm on week 6! I lost about 20 lbs in that 6 weeks, and I suspect my body was telling me 'no more'
I have been feeling a bit better in the last few days though
