Hi guys,

To all of us with European food labels, can you tell me which carbs figure to calculate my carbs with...

My Beefburger box reads:

Nutrition Per Burger 100g
Protein 14.0g 16.7g

Carbs 3.1g 3.6g
- Of which sugars 0.3g 0.4g

My question:
Is each burger 3.1 g of carbs or 0.3 g of carbs?

The front of the box advertises 0.3g Sugar.... but the burger figures are 3.1g, ie 10 times higher.
What's happening here? If I have 2 burgers am I having 0.6g or 6.2g?

<<Carbs 3.1g 3.6g
- Of which sugars 0.3g 0.4g<<

The burger would have 3.1 grams of carbs. What's the 3.6 referring to?

And, more importantly, why does it have carbs at all? Meat is 0 carbs.

What kind of fillers are in there?

What's the list of ingredients???

Many European labels do not consider fiber to be a carbohydrate, so it's already subtracted from the total carbohydrate count.

I would certainly expect a burger to have 0 carbs... either here in the US or Europe.

The second numbers, like the 3.6 g carbs and 16.7 g protein, probably relate to the serving size, which is supposed to be 120 g if I calculated right :)
So if you make one burger, you have 3.6 g carbs, of which are 0.4 g from pure sugar.

Maybe it is already spiced, so that you just have to make the patties and fry them, that's probably why there are carbs in it.

When I make burgers myself, I also do not use only beef, but also an egg and normally some breadcrumbs to make the beef stick together.

I imagine it has something like breadcrumbs or rusk as a filler, which accounts for the carbs in it.
I just buy ground meat (minced beef in UK) and make my own, adding some spices to make it tastier.

Thanks guys.

I think the 2 figures are
a. per burger 3.1 g carbs
b. per 100 g 3.6 g carbs.

So as I'm eating a burger then I calculate 3.1g carbs.

Thank you so much. It's so misleading, I thought I was only having 0.3 g carbs!!

Thankyou, thank you.

What's in the list of ingredients? It shouldn't have carbs at all unless there's fillers... and why do you want fillers?

I've been hunting through the full range of burgers in all the UK supermarkets. They're all labelled 100% beef, but also have carbs....???

So far around 3.1 g carbs per burger seems an average carb amount, even where it's specified 100% beef.

As I check out a wider range of supermarkets, I'm hoping to find a burger that actually has 0.0g, but not found one, yet.

If anyone knows of a global/european brand that has 0.0g?

I've also bought the mince meat, to do homemade. Any nice burger receipes out there?

I've been hunting through the full range of burgers in all the UK supermarkets. They're all labelled 100% beef, but also have carbs....???They get away with this because the label '100% beef' just means that all the meat in it was once part of a cow! The carbs will have come from all the other ingredients listed in teeny tiny letters on the back of the packet.
