I was wondering if anyone would like to share your feedback on Atkins products--like puddings, breakfast bars, etc. I found a website where I can order these things: http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=132_234

I'm interested in a couple of these products, but more as something to fall back on; not as regular desserts or anything...

However, I'd love to hear others' feedback on Atkins products before I spend any money on them...

Thanks!!!!

My feedback is: YUK. ;)

Everything I have ever tried from the Atkins line wasn't fit to eat.

The only products with the Atkins label are shakes and bars.

I used to ocasionally get the Atkins brownie. It did help when I craved a chocolate brownie. I never purchased much of any of the products to be of help. But, it is better to just consume wholesome low carb food.

I really appreciate your feedback on this stuff...

I think I'll stick to homemade stuff and keep on top of it. I'd rather put the bucks toward more veggies. :)

Thank you!!!

I used to really like the pancake mix.....layered with strawberries and whipped cream....

Every morning I eat 1/2 of an Atkins PB Granola bar with a skiff of PB on top...just enough to make a pecan or two stick to it...

The "Endulge" coconut bars are tasty too...especially with PB.

I don't like any of the protein bars they do.

I used to think the Cinnamon Bun breakfast bars were tolerable in a major pinch, but that's being completely desperate. The brownie mix, when it was around, was excellent though.

They changed some of the recipes now to include sugar, so be careful and read labels carefully before buying. I used to love taking the Atkins chocolate shake powder and mixing it with plain yogurt. It made a great pudding. Was only brand and flavour that would do that however, so must of been some of the bulking agents used.

I personally love Atkins Advantage bars. I find them convenient, satisfying and the chocolate gives me a bit of a caffeine boost to boot. The only flavours I see around Sydney these days are choc decadence and hazelnut crunch, I would love to know what happened to the other flavours! I also enjoy an occasional strawberry crisp Morning Shine bar.
The initial phase of the plan I am on is very similar to Atkins induction (though calorie counting is a requirement) but my ultimate goal is building muscle, not losing fat, so long as I have definition. Many people on this forum claim that bars, shakes and other "franken foods" cause them to stall. Experiement with whatever works for YOU.

Actually, the Simply Good line isn't aimed at anyone doing Atkins... it's for people who want a protein bar without the chemical junk.

None of the Atkins labeled products contain added sugar.

The Atkins bars I've tried--S'Mores, Choc Peanut Butter, and Caramel Fudge--are awesome. Definitely a great sweet treat with no added sugar and no laxative effects. The Cinnamon Bun breakfast bars are disgusting, though.

I like the Atkins vanilla shakes in a can. They are not so tasty that they are a "treat," but they taste fine and have tons of vitamins and minerals and protein, and only 1 net carb.

I also like their line of caramel Advantage bars. Those taste good enough to be a treat to me!

You have all been very helpful with your info and sharing your experiences...

I do think it might be worth it for me to have a few things stashed away for the times I'm just too tired or busy or whatever...Ultimately, I'm taking the time every single day to cook good, wholesome meals--lots of fresh veggies and meat.

But I'm a realist and I know there will be some days when that is just not going to be so easy. Having healthy, LC alternatives are better than nothing!

Thanks again, guys! I love the info!

I thought most of it was pretty nasty except for some of the bars. I know a lot of people have claimed that the Atkins products have stalled them though, so I recommend watching how your body reacts to sugar alcohols before regularly eating the products. (Sugar alcohols don't bother me, so they never caused me to stall. But I had to weigh myself every day for several months to determine how my weight fluctuated each day and how different foods effected me.)

The atkins bars say like 20 some carbs but 3 net carbs which is it?

atkins subtracts glycerin and fiber (that because glycerin acts more like a fat than a carb).

personally, i love atkins products..but in moderation.
