Hi Nancy, I know you have mentioned having an autoimmune disorder and I was wondering if you noticed whether fruit makes you feel worse. I'd been having some fruit this week and my pain is thru the roof. It feels more like fibromyalgia pain than RA pain but still, I wonder if the sugar is causing the problem. The pain goes all down my back on one side and around my ribs. Can't seem to ease it no matter what I do.
Everyone else is welcome to respond as well, I just specified Nancy due to her mentioning her a.d.
thanks!

Well, pay attention to your body! A lot of folks with AS have issues eating starchy stuff so they follow a no-starch diet, often times that means fruit has to go because some of it is starchy. The idea is that there are bugs living in our intestines that have started a chain of autoimmune reaction and those bugs have preferences for certain foods. If your FM is due to some autoimmune issue then it is possible that there are certain foods that will cause you problems.
My best advice is to be guided by your body. Sometimes it takes a few tests to figure out the real culprits, like with me and dairy. But keep at it!
Are you still eating the fruit?
Fruit doesn't seem to be an issue with me, but that doesn't mean it isn't with you!
Here's a summary of what the AS patients do (many anyway)

I do normally listen to my body but it's been all over the place lately so I can't really tell what is and what isn't affecting it. It's been very discouraging. Thanks for the link. I'm sure it will help :)

Nancy, thanks again for that link. I found a link from that site to a woman's blog that was spot on for what I"m going thru and for the fruits I'm eating...they seem to bother her in the same way I'm having pain. It was a HUGE help.
