Hi Mermaiden, I think you'll find there are quite a few of us Aussies here. But most of us spend more time in the main support areas, treating this spot as a resource. ;)
Congratulations, Cinnamon! :D At least you prevented our "old enemy" from winning.

Hi Cinnamon.... welcome
Sorry, I didn't even know the world cup was on  I'm completely oblivious to sporting events... none the less, congratulations.
Next year you'll see Australia holding up that cup - hehe
Thanks Roz. I wondered where everyone was. I'll keep hanging out in the main forums.

I've been lowcarbing (this time) for about 6 months. I'ts been much easier than last time I did it because I've become much more informed and have made the effort to find and try new recipes and ingredients.
There are some great recipes on this forum and I recently purchased a book from amazon called 500 low carb recipes by Dana Carpender. I first borrowed it from the library and decided I had to have it. It was also recommended by a number of people on this forum. It's fantastic (link below)

I would also love to recommend my current favourite recipe from this forum
Shopjunkie's Peanutbutter Chicken

Also check out this flax bread recipe. It's made my lowcarbing a breeze because I can have sandwiches again. It was recommended by someone on this forum and I haven't looked back since trying it. Make sure you only use 2 tspns of splenda instead of tblspns though.

Also look at chleocatra's oopsies

Mock Danish - yummy and quick sweet treat

There are heaps of different recipes to try that don't have strange or unfamiliar ingredients. It can be a bit overwhelming at first because you're changing your whole way of eating and thinking in relation to food, but after a while it gets easier and becomes normal.
Get flax (linseed over here) from the health food store already ground, just make sure you keep it in the fridge in an airtight container or it goes rancid quickly. You can also get the seeds, which do stay fresher longer (but also should be refrigerated) and grind them yourself in either a coffe grinder or I use one of those mini food processers that came with my braun stick blender.
I've found Woolies sells Linseed in packets in the health food aisle in my area, you may find they do down there as well.
Keep at it and you'll be amazed at how easy it is to maintain this way of eating. Put your fears aside and try something new, you'll do great:thup:
This site is an unbelievable fountain of helpful and very knowledgable people who will help and encourage you in your low carb journey. I've found so much support here.
I'm happy to know of someone else in Adelaide who is low carbing as well.
It will be great to be able to share information about local products
Take care
