A good work out with Tanya. More different routines. Did not feel to bad despite my cold. Not that many there, most at home watching the rugby?

Again did some swimming too, mainly breast stroke.

Did not get to the gym on Sunday was preparing for my interview.

Had a good session with some improvements. Thought I would not be as good as have had a cold, but was not effected this time.

Started off by doing 3 of the weight machines. Time taken 15 minutes

Abductor - 2 slow sets of 20 at 35 kg
Abductor - 2 quick sets of 20 at 35 kg
Leg Press - 2 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Leg Press - 2 quick sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 1 set of 20 at 15 kg, 1 set of 10 at 20 kg - Up 5 kg

Rotex - 4 mins at level 3 at 125 - 140 cps - Up 1 minute
I did 40 minutes on the treadmill:

The 45 mins was broken up as follows:
5 min at 4.4 kph
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.6 kph
10 min at 3.5 with 6% gradient
10 min at 3.5 with -4% gradient - Up 5 min
5 min at 3.5

I wore my heart monitor for the treadmill and rotex. It said I had an average heart rate of 121 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 42.44 minutes and used 277 calories.

Another good session, kept my weights as last week, but still struggled in places. Really felt my legs and upper arms today.

Did the session with 5 kg weights for most tracks and increased them to 7kg for the chest, back and bicep track. I used hand weights for the tricep and shoulder track - 2 kg each.

Arrived early and did some swimming first. I think my breast stroke is improving, but there is a long way to go.

A good work out with Tanya. More different routines. Again there was not a lot of us there. Can't blame the rugby this week!

Its quite a while since I managed a Sunday session. Had a good session with some improvements. Shows that you have more energy in the morning.

Started off by doing 3 of the weight machines. Time taken 17 minutes

Abductor - 2 slow sets of 20 at 35 kg
Abductor - 2 quick sets of 20 at 35 kg
Leg Press - 2 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Leg Press - 2 quick sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 1 set of 20 at 15 kg, 1 set of 20 at 20 kg - Up 10

Rotex - 5 mins at level 3 at 125 - 140 cps - Up 1 minute
I did 40 minutes on the treadmill:

The 45 mins was broken up as follows:
5 min at 4.4 kph
5 min at 4.6 kph - Up 0.1 kph
5 min at 4.7 kph - Up 0.1 kph
10 min at 3.5 with 7% gradient - Up 1% gradient

I wore my heart monitor for the treadmill and rotex. It said I had an average heart rate of 121 bpm, was above 121 bpm for 43.58 minutes and used 281 calories.

A good session. Managed to do all the back track with 7 kg weights. For the last 2 weeks have had to give up towards the end. So pleased. :clap: Although I felt my legs in the squat track my shoulders really ached after the session.

Tanya was away today. Her replacement was not as good and I got a bit bored with the routines we did. Oh well, it was good exercise!

Did even more swimming this week, before the class, 6 pool lengths of breast stroke. It is certainly getting easier.

Not a bad good session. Had more variety in the tracks so did not use 7 kg for the back track. Arms and legs muscles certainly ached this week.

Tanya was back today and then they could not find the music system. Fortunately after around 10 minutes it appeared as it is much harder to keep up the momentum without a beat. A good session.

Did more swimming afterwards, around 6 pool lengths of breast stroke. Continuing to improve.

Whilst I felt I was working hard, my muscles were not so strong this week and could not complete all the tracks in the way I am used to. My right arm muscles certainly tied up.

I wore my heart monitor for the treadmill and rotex. It said I had an average heart rate of 121 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 43.01 minutes and used 280 calories. Interesting that I worked harder than last time but used around 25 calories less. Oh well, pleased with the improvement.

Only 5 in the class today! Had quite a good session with Ann, certainly felt I had had a good exercise session. Stomach was feeling distended at the start.

No instructor for aqua today!! There would have only been around 5 in the class as well. So I did 30 minutes of aqua exercises and then about 10 lengths of the pool swimming, mainly breast stroke, but some crawl and back stroke. Felt good afterwards.

Well had a good session with Lisa. It was fun.

I also did about 8 lengths of the pool with breast stroke. I am certainly improving as not so out of breath.

Felt great afterwards. Beginning to feel slim again! The excesses of Christmas have gone.

The chorine in the pool was higher for the last week. I got sore eyes yesterday. The skin on my back was quite tender also. Put some moisturiser on in the evening.

A good session especially as I've not been for 3 weeks. Christmas and New Year both fell on Thursdays. Worked with just 5kg weights to ease myself back in. Some muscles really felt it!

I wore my heart monitor for the treadmill, it was not working on the rotex. It said I had an average heart rate of 128 bpm, was above 112 bpm for 46.40 minutes and used 312 calories. Normally the monitor indicates around 35 calories on the rotex so that is 347 calories. :thup:

Nearly late for the class. This week we did have music, so it was a lot better. Had a good session and really felt quite exhausted afterwards. I think that the cold, which is beginning to get better, has something to do with that.

Afterwards did 2 pool lengths of breast stroke and 4 of back stroke. Did not have so much energy for this this week.

Swam 6 lengths of the pool beforehand and a further 2 afterwards. Certainly more energy than I've had for a couple of weeks.

Improved on my jogging today. Managed to do one minute three times in the 5 minute 5.0 kph slot. Very pleased. :thup:

No time to relax afterwards as going to the low carb get together in London.

Was really pleased that I was able to jog for one and a half minutes at 5.0 kph and then after 1 minute walking fast jogged for another 90 seconds. Certainly getting there.

Two weeks since I went to aquafit. Was not sure if I would make it today as my guts had been playing up. Anyway, survived OK.

Took it quite easy as my gut muscles were hurting. But a good session. Did not do any extra swimming.

The spa was out of order and there was no hot water for a shower!!!!

Had another good session with more improvements. Was annoyed that the machine to do my arm exercises was out of order. Tried the stepper machine, but am too small for that as well.

Started off by doing 2 of the weight machines. Time taken 10 minutes

Wow, it was January 8th when I last went to Body Pump. I've been ill, had training courses and been on holiday, all of which have stopped me going.

Well I decided to go easy and just use light weights. Had a good session though and hope I will not ache too much tomorrow.

Arrived a bit earlier today and so was able to do about 4 lengths of breast stroke and 4 lengths of back stroke before the session.

Had a good session with Tanya and worked a lot harder than the past two weeks. I was feeling much better and no gut muscle twinges, mind you, my inside leg muscles still hurt from Thursday's Body Pump session.

What was brilliant was that I jogged for 4 minutes on the tread mill. :yay: My previous high was 90 seconds. That 5 minutes is not so far away now.

Just 2 weeks since my last session.

Had a good session and increased my weights since last time. The new shoulder track is a killer and I'm glad I put my weights down to 2 kg for that track. Would not have been able to do that one a year ago, so pleased I could cope.

I did like the way she did lots of repetitions of the same thing, but when she did the cycle for the third time I was a bit bored and wanted more variety. Wonder what she will do next week. Vicky's session was quite different from last week. We only used the woggle towards the end. She certainly makes you use certain muscles a lot so they ache, but I don't get out of breath. All in all a good session.

A really good session. Put my weights up today, back to where I was before Christmas. However, could only do half the session like that. My grip went and so had to lower them again for the tricep track and beyond.

I was quite worn out doing this and it shows how much conditioning I've lost. But was really pleased that I went and felt better afterwards. Now I must maintain this and get better. Hopefully I'll be there again on Wednesday and can add in some weights.

Well after 2,5 months I made it back to the gym. I am probably 7 pounds or so heavier as well! My last session was on 4 August. Anyway had a good session and was not as unfit as I thought I would be. Really glad I went.

My session lasted for 50 minutes. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. Got my heart rate up to over 130 at one point. The watch says I spent 20 minutes in the zone which for a 25 min cardio session is not bad, but this only amounted to 163 calories burnt off. This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.5 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 30 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg

Swam 10 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 6 lengths afterwards. So very pleased with that. That is the most I have ever swum in this pool. Did not need to rest inbetween the lengths.

Not sure who took the session, it was quite good and she kept us moving for the full 45 minutes. She did not use the woggles however, so could have done with using them as well, but a good session.

Swum a couple of lengths of breast stroke and back stroke before the session, but as last week did find this quite hard going.

Aim to book in for Sunday 2nd January on Monday.

Booked in to do aquafit. Just a few of us, but the instructor did not show up. So instead I did about 15 minutes of aqua exercises and swum 8 lengths of breast stroke. Pity about the class, but at least I did do some exercise.

Had a half hour session on the treadmill tonight. I'm pleased that I have been to the gym or pool 4 times in the last week and am booked in for Sunday and Monday.

This is what I did for 30 minutes on the treadmill:
5 min at 4.5 kph

5 min at 4.9 with -5% gradient
5 min at 4.0 kph
5 min at 4.0 with 5% gradient

Came away very hot and sweaty and know that I had burned at least 130 calories, but for my weight and size probably over 160 calories. Felt chuffed with myself, so its doing positive things to my hormones.

Monday morning was a Bank Holiday and so I decided to try out a new class at the gym. This was "nice and easy". I think the class is mainly aimed at retired people, judging by the others, but it gave me a good workout and I certainly glowed. Found the coordination quite difficult and think I might go again, once I'm retired.

Enjoyable.

Well, it was last June when I attended the last session of BodyPump.

Had a really good session. It was hard work and I kept the weights to the minimum. My legs ached the most and I stiffened up during the session, but I loved it. I did not realise just how much I had missed it. Although all the tracks had changed the types of moves were the same and so it was easy to keep up.

Two weeks since I did this class.

Had an enjoyable session with Sandra. It was not too packed and so we were not forever banging into each other. However, as well as getting puffed, I found that I kept losing the plot and was not as good at the coordination as I thought I would be. Certainly got my leg muscles going.

This class has moved from 8 pm to 6 15 pm in the new timetable. Will see if I continue going after my cruise.

Well 27th April was the last time I visited the gym.

As it was hot I did not want to push myself too much. Did 30 minutes straight on the treadmill, so that should have been good for my stamina.

Torture! Feeling very tired from the anithistamine tablets so only did the 45 minute session at half pace. Kept yawning and developed hiccups too.

Next week I'll be away on Brownie holiday and then away at Shelagh's. So next session will be at the start of September.

Won't be able to go for the next 2 weeks, so must remember to book in for 3 weeks time.

Well after around 6 months it was back to aquafit on Saturday. Chris still takes the session. It was OK, but too manic for me, not enough repetition of the same moves. Discovered I had quite tight muscles at the start. Probably from all that walking upstairs on Thursday and Friday!

It was great to see some old friends again. No time for additional swimming.

They have just started a new aquafit class on a Wednesday. Was lucky to be able to go today. Mandy takes the class who is very good, so had a great session. The pool was really warm, almost like a bath, so we had to be careful not to exert ourselves too much.

I took things a little easily, but by 35 minutes I'd had enough, so got out and showered and missed the last 10 minutes of the session. It was good to get my blood fully circulating around my body!

Well it was June 2005 that I last spent any time in the gym. I did do BodyPump up until October, but only aquafit since then.

Today I started back in the gym, but only gently as I realised just how unfit I had become. I just did 15 mins on the treadmill.

5 mins - 2.4 kph
10 mins - 2.6 kph

Aim to go back on Monday.

Went to aquafit today with Louise who was standing in for Lisa. Had a very good session and used a lot of muscles. The aches in my muscles from yesterday (arms) were OK in the water.

I also swum 2 lengths of the pool after the session.

Its a long time since I seriously went to the gym, well over a year! Anyway, made it today and decided to start gently.

This is what I did:
Rotex - 2 minutes at level 1, 125 - 140 kph
Abductor - 4 sets of 20 at 25 kg
Pull Downs - 1 sets of 20 at 15 kg
Pull Downs - 3 sets of 20 at 20 kg
Leg press - 4 sets of 20 at 80 kg
Pull Ups - 1 set of 20 at 15 kg
Pull Ups - 3 sets of 20 at 10 kg
Treadmill - 10 min at 3.5 kph

Felt good afterwards.
