nailfairy, well done on ur first week. 8lbs is a great start! this is my first time on atkins - (after years of misguided terror that it was a 'bad' diet to follow!) i've been doing it for 3 1/2 mths and lost 25lbs - want to get down to about 147 or a size 12 whichever comes first! lol. good luck and keep posting!

Im in a size 14 at the mo, and think i would like to aim for a 10, my main problem areas are my legs, my top half is quite small. So i think i need to excercise quite heavily in conjunction with me. Good start made last night though, kids had me rollerskating for 2 hours solid, sweated buckets, but felt great afterwards!

Hi all
I live in Gloucester. I did the Atkins diet before christmas and lost half a stone in a week, i was well chuffed!! anyway, that all soon went back on over the festive season due to too much booze ans roast potatoes!
Well, i'm starting the Atkins again on Monday, i hope i can stick with it this time.
Does anyone else have any problems with measuring the salad and veg in cups? I prefer to weigh my food as i don't feel i'm getting acurate amounts. Any ideas on how to deal with that as i don't want to go over my 20g of carbs by not measuring properly.
Great to see other Brits for support.

Hi Tanglewood - Been to Cornwall - did some hiking on the South Coast Path a few years ago - lovely coastline!!
Good meet all Brits on both sides of the 'Pond'. Happy low carbing.

As for the 'cup' thing, here is a link to the USDA database
http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
which lists most foods with its nutrients but also shows how much one cup of each weighs in grams.

Hi all Brits! How's everyone's weight loss going this week, so far.
I'm off to a good start - let's all keep in touch, although I know we all have busy lives.
Another couple of inches of snow this a.m., after we lost it all last week. Ah well, it is still January!

Hiya!
I'm from Scotland and started low carb eating at the end of january.
I want to try the meat and eggs thing but not sure if its any good. I've been retaining water whenever I eat salt and wondered if this would help.
Has anyone else tried it?

Hi Everyone, I'm from Northern Ireland but currently living in Germany. I have about 15 lbs to lose and am back on the Atkins after popping on and off for years. On Day 3 and I've lost 3lbs so far. Fingers crossed I'll keep it up this time. Its terrible to say, but the only thing I really miss on the Atkins is red wine!!!! Theres nothing like getting the kids settled for the night and sitting down to x factor (sad I know, but I have no social life) and a nice big glass of red!! A mug of coffee with cream just doesnt cut it!!! Anyway, good luck everyone x

Hi all
I'm in Oxfordshire and still doing low carb since January 2000. I occasionally go off lc for a day (make that 2, it's usually a Saturday and I find it impossible to restart the diet on a Sunday!) but always have to pay a heavy price ...
