Hi!

First i would like to thank all of you for posting. Your success is so encouraging.

Now, i am starting BfL on 25/02/02. My gym has both free weights and machines. The free weight room is opened at 9am and i work out at 7am because of work. Is it ok to use machines? They have machines and cable cross over bars.

Thanks for any suggesstions. i appreciate it!

Yukio, congrats on your decision to start the program  It's made a huge difference for many of us here.

If you refer to the exercise chapters in your BFL book you'll see that all the exercises listed are demonstrated with both free weights and machines. I'd love to try using some of the machines - but am working out at home for the next few months.

Both Beth (Bsayne) and Marlaine use machines and you can take a look at their workouts by browsing their gym logs under the "Gym Log" forum.

Cheers,
Nat

hello!

congrats on deciding to start the program!

Today was actually the first day i went to the gym to do my workout. I used the machines and felt like i definitly got as good a workout as when i use my free weights at home. the ONLY problem i had was switching. After i did my 12-10-8-6-12 routine on one machine, i would jump off and try to run to the next one for my last set of 12 on that muscle group :) but everytime i did that, someone would be on the machine i wanted! It was so frustrating. So i'd have to stand there and wait, and by that point, i know my intensity was down.

Besides that problem, however, i don't see a problem with using the machines :) Good luck and have fun!!

Yukio, I've been doing BFL for almost 11 weeks now and use a mix of free weights and machines. I have used machines for bench press, flyes, military press, chest press, lat pull, tricep pulldowns, leg curls, leg extensions and calf raises. I think they work just fine for BFL.

Hi there Yukio.....

Congratulations on deciding to start BFL!

I have been using a combination of machines and free weights and I feel that I've had good success. I actually prefer the machines because they feel 'easier' to me, but I'm discovering a new fascination with the free weights since I've added a few more into my routine. I feel that in the beginning, a great deal more focus is necessary with the free weights in order to have consistently good form.
