Sometimes I need a little reminder.

I am very lucky at work, a fridge full of bottled water is at my disposal all day, I grab 5 and leave them on my desk and just chug between everything I do all day.

I grab 2 more for the ride home, then one more as I work out, and another until about 8PM or so.

When I don't drink that amount of water on the weekends (cause my schedule is different), I feel sluggish and want to nap more!

For some bizarre reason, I prefer to drink my water from the 1.5 litre bottles. (50 ounces) If I pour it into a glass, I don't drink it as much! How weird is that. I drink about 2 of these bottles a day - sometimes 3.

Thank goodness it's so cheap - because the tap water is horrid here.

But I can't drink water from the fridge - it's too cold.

I guess we all have our idiosyncrasies, eh? :)

At work, we have one of those big cooler bottle disposer thingies. I buy a liter bottle from the gas station, drink that, and then refill it 3 more times, so I drink just a tad more than a gallon a day (when I'm at work..) and sometimes I don't drink that much. Today I only drank to liters :( But I did feel better today because for the past two days, I haven't had any water, just diet soda and one can a day isn't cutting it for my fluids LOL.

When I am at home all day, I hardly drink ANY water at all. It just isn't staring me down like it is at work with the nice, refreshing, filtered water cooler. Just tap water at home that isn't cool, and if I leave it in the fridge, I forget about it *shrug* Oh well, at least I drink enough 99% of the time! LOL

Aiming for a certain amount each day is not healthy, thirst is there for a reason just like hunger.

Ive been awfully bad at drinking water for the last couple of days. Our tap water at work is foul and Ive been forgetting to buy water on the way in. I normally try for 2 litres at work and then four glasses when I get home..Im gonna make sure I remember the water today and if I forget Im gonna not be lazy and go back to the shop to get it! :agree:

Very true my docs at the Mayo Clinic says drink to thirst don't push yourself to overdrink. You can flush vital minerals and vitamins out of your system by forcing yourself to drink to much. I try for 64 oz a day. :)

Hm... They say that if you wait until you are thirsty, you are dehydrated, which makes sense (to me at least) but I aim for 100 oz or more a day because I tend to sweat during the day.. I seem to be doing fine.

I don't know about ' healthy ' but I do know that if I don't drink at least 80 ozs a day, I don't lose as good. I drink my water out of a 20 oz bottle with a sports cap on top. For some reason, I drink more with that sucky top thing on the bottle. I never drink out of a glass anymore :0 My children call it my ba ba. :)

I had over 4 liters today!!!

I was "aiming" for three yesterday and got it.

But today, I was really thirsty. I had two liters before lunch!!

But I feel it flushes out all that crap the ketosis is burning off.

drinking water gives me a headache...Could this be a sodium problem?

LStump

Are you sure its the water that is causing your headaches, or is it dehydration that is causing your headaches and because you're dehydrated, you are wanting water, and only then notice you have a headache.

is it dehydration that is causing your headaches
Very true. I get wicked headaches if I get dehydrated and lower back pain (I assume my kidneys) if I get REALLY dehydrated. Also, what kind of water are you drinking? You might be sensitive to the cholrine or flouride in tap water?

And a thought on drinking only when thirsty....like hunger, it's hard to know exactly when I'm thirsty. So many of the cues are psychological. For example, when I'm getting dressed to go running, my mouth and throat get incredibly dry. It is the exact feeling that I get after a really good intense work out. It's like my body/mind has learned to expect that and reacts to the idea of running rather than the actual activity. I know...I know....I'm crazy.......

It's getting a little harder as it's cooler weather and I have to work harder at drinking. Summer time is no problem....I've seen great results JUST drinking water and cutting portions so this is a great reminder.
Cheers!!!

Forcing liquids can flush necessary minerals/vitamins out of your body. When you get thirsty it does not mean you are already dehydrated.

Thirst is like hunger. When hungry, eat...when thirsty, have a drink.

Hi!
I do one L on the way to work, one more b-4 lunch, one in the afternoon, and one on the way home, so four a day I guess, plus more after exercise.
I will get major headaches if I don't!
