Hi guys!

I need some help once again... :help:

I seem to be having such a hard time with constipation this time around. I have lost a pound a week for the last couple weeks, but I know if I was regular more would be lost. (maybe I am wrong) I have drank epsom salt, but it does not seem to work for me anymore like it use to. I really don't want to start taking a lot of over the counter stuff, but I will if it gets too bad. Anywho, I am coming to my low carb community to ask if there is anything I can do daily that can help me with this problem. Do I need to eat something or do you guys drink something that eases this problem. Please offer any advice.

adding more fat helped me. Unfortunately I still struggle with it. I have also used "3 Ballerina Tea" but got to warn you its pretty powerful. http://www.asiachi.com/dietdrin18ba.html

Milk of Magnesia... they even have a cherry smoothie flavoured one that is not too bad.

Cut back on the cheese and eat a few more veggies.

Magnesium and lots of water! I take 500 mg of magnesium a day and it works beautifully. Jill

I have overcome constipation a long time ago but here is something that probably would have been a better "laxative" I began intermittent fasting since April and one thing that I have discovered is hat I "go" everyday at 2:30PM.o not only am I more regular, you can set your watch by my BMs. For me, I do IF all the time, but you might want to try it for a couple of days for the sole purpose of breaking the dam. Everyone, remember, at 2:30 Pacific time, you know what I will be doing.

My thing is that all those other remedies, Magnesium & coffee & tea--all that stuff is working, I assume by "irritating" the GI tract. I like using fat b/c I don't think it works that way. I don't know "how" it works (I guess I think that some of the fat actually remains in the food, softening it up?), but it works.

Coffee and tea work by irritating the GI tract, but magnesium RELAXES muscles, it doesn't irritate them. It also loosens up the stools, making them easier to push out.

Try adding some spinach to your daily menus - spinach salad for lunch or sauteed spinach in garlic and lemon for dinner.

I've been having the same trouble :( ......I've only had this issue since I quit smoking...which leads me to believe that smoking had some kind of laxative-ish type of effect on my system??? It REALLY makes a difference with weight loss if you are "going" or you aren't!!! I went daily when I was smoking now I'm lucky to go every few days!! This has got to change...I just took some magnesium!?!?! Hope it works!! I feel bummed it was sooo easy to lose when I smoked....WELL maybe it was just easy to poop!!

If you try something else and it works good for you....please let us know!! ie the tea!!

Try having a glass of hot water with a tablespoon of lemon juice mixed in every morning before you eat or drink anything. Its supposed to be very good for digestion, liver cleansing, appetite suppression (not that we need that with all the yummy food we can eat!) and decreasing mucus. I have one every morning before my cup of tea, and I am as regular as clockwork.

Cheers

Two tablespoons of magnesium citrate a day will work. I also take fiber supplements daily. Plenty of water, veggies and exercise help.

Daily fasting does help me and seems to have cleared up IBS.

If you're carb count allows it, the new Dannon Activa Yogurt is great! The light varieties have 13g carb and 3 g fiber (10 net). I have a Candida problem, so I incorporated this into my diet since it has a boat load of probiotics in it. While I started using it mainly to eat up the excess Candida, I couldn't help but notice a difference in my "routine." It was actually developed to regulate your system... However, the regular (full fat) varieties have almost 20 g carb. No clue how the light are lower, usually it's the opposite. Oh well.
