So I thought my two weeks of induction were over but once I stepped on the scale I was very surprised to find out my weight was not going down. I got alot of good ideas from alot of Low Carb Buddies and decided I was going to stop with the processed meats, coffee, diet soda.........

I was dying last night from a headache and don't know if it was due to this but I weighed this morning and I was 1 lb. down. Now today I went to the gym during my lunch hour and could not help myself and I stopped by STARBUCKS and purchased a Green Tea with 3 packets of Splenda.....

Please tell me that is not going to affect my weight loss........ :help:

The headache was probably caffeine withdrawal. The headaches a real bummer, but once you tough that out, you shouldn't have much more trouble with that. Re the green tea, I can't really help you. I would assume green tea is just water and tea, which is fine. 3 packets of Splenda is a lot, but shouldn't be a problem. Just avoid too much more AS today. Keep with it! You'll be fine! Sounds like you're starting to get the hang of it.

Thank you. I'm just so use to always drinking diet soda, and coffee that I really felt like I was not having any kind of treat with out them. But it must of not raised my insuline because I heard that insuline is what triggers your cravings and for the first time in my life aside from using (phen) I have absolutely no desire to have any cookies, pastas, tortillas or unacceptable carbs.

Was the green tea you drank decaf??

3 packets of Splenda is the limit for the day on Atkins Induction.

I don't know if it was decaf. Does that trigger weight stalls?

Well, if you're weaning yourself off of caffeine (coffee, diet sodas) why not drink decaf tea as well? When really starting out on Atkins with a clean Induction, you will experience headaches, so that also may be contributing to your headaches. I know I feel like poo today. Today I've had nothing 'bad' to eat for the first time in about a month or so. I have a headache and I'm super super tired.

TRUE. But at times when doing atkins it feels like a treat to be able to have a little something that tastes sweet. I love my splenda but if it stalls me than I'll stop because it is more important to me to lose weight.

Splenda doesn't stall everyone. I have to take any sweet thing easy, artificially sweet or not. Its good to go through Induction without anything like that in order to lose the max amount of weight during that time period. I lost 15 pounds or so on Induction. Its much slower now, of course, but I didn't have anything I wasn't supposed to when I did Induction. There are reasons why Induction is restrictive, you should go back over the book.

Hi laguera, what LStump said is true. Green tea actually is loaded with caffeine! Stop that green tea and try to go on a "clean" induction.

Eat less processed meat, drink lots of water, and avoid the caffeine.

Am now hanging on to the 5th day of my induction, lost 4 pounds so far. I was feeling very sick during my 2nd day on the diet but feels better today. I keep drinking and drinking water and I try not to deprieve myself from the "legal food".

Good luck and happy low carbing!

Cheers,

On the issue of processed meats. Yesterday, I was reading in RedBook Magazine that people who eat 16 or more servings of processed meats a week (salami, other deli meats, hot dogs, sausages) are more likely to have emphysema (!) and other lung problems more common to smokers. I don't quite remember why or even if its true, but something to think about.

Decaff coffee or decaff tea will help. Add alittle bit of cream and vanilla and make it a Vienna.

Keep strong

The food police also tell us that eating fats and little or no grain is bad for us. Ya can't believe everything you read! I, for one, don't believe it!

Yeah, but its not like processed meats are any good for us in the first place. I can see why people would think whole grains and little fat is good for us.
