I stepped on the scale this AM in my jammies (tank top and shorts) and got 174. I stepped on it again with my robe on and got 175. Since I normally weigh myself dressed (I wear long sleeves and long skirts for religious reasons, and it's usually inconvenient to go downstairs to the scale in my Mom's office before I get dressed in the mornings), which weight should I count?

Either way, I'm down from 176 last week. I just don't know if I should count the extra pound or not.

Hey, either way, you've lost, so here's what I'd do. I hate setting myself up for disappointment, so if it were me, I'd count the higher figure -- and then celebrate the next day if it turned out that I was indeed down not just one pounds, but two!

Way to go, btw!

I dont think it matters as long as you weigh yourself the same way each time. Congradulations on the loss

In my Mom's office in front of a window facing the street?

I live in an apt on the 2nd floor of my parent's house. I'm not about to purchase a scale when my Mom has a dr's type scale in her office, which is just off their bedroom. But I'm also not going to go downstairs into "their space" without any clothes!

I agree with just making sure you do it the same every morning.
Way to go on the loss!

I'd say go with the first, as the second sounds like clothing was contributing to the extra pound. I have weighed myself with clothes on and off and there was a difference of 2 pounds!! So, that said, MY TRUE weight is when I'm naked. After all, my clothes aren't losing weight, I am.

I would make sure you wear the exact same thing every time you weigh, then deduct about 2 pounds from your weight each day!

I'd love a doctor's type scale! Lucky you

Congratulations on the losses! I would count the higher weight for the reason Aeryn gave.

For the future, maybe you could pick what clothes you're going to weigh yourself in every day, then put on something different, go downstairs and weight just the clothes? That way you'll know how much to deduct for clothing weight. If the scale downstairs isn't quite accurate enough to give you an accurate weight for just the clothes, maybe weight them on your kitchen scales?

Of course, so long as you wear the same clothes each day, it doesn't really matter what they weigh. But if it were me I'd like to know anyway :)

I always weigh myself twice, but I always record the first reading.

I decided to record the lowest, but I did make a note of the discrepency in Fitday in the "journal" section.

If I'm still 174 next week, I won't worry about it.

I only weight myself in the mornings, after my "bathroom break" and before I drink my coffee. Only wear a bra & panties and then throw my nightie back on to relax & have my coffee. After all, the weight of bra & panties don't change!

You wear a bra under your nightie? I only did that when I was nursing!

Yep, I've always worn a bra to bed....don't ask me why but I'm just more comfortable. Wear the soft "leisure" kind.
Anyway, didn't mean to hijack the thread!
