Which is better for speedy fat loss and to kick your body into ketosis - the meat and egg fast or the atkins fat fast? I'm only going to do it for a few days so I won't be doing anything extreme for more than 3 or 4 days, but I'd really like to jumpstart my new regimen with motivating success and being able to appreciate induction foods when it comes to that point. thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

Atkins induction is designed to jumpstart weightloss and kick your body into ketosis in about 48 hours. It's only 20g carbs per day. I can't believe the difference between 20 and 0 is going to make a huge difference. :) I would do the induction as written.

That said, if you're determined to do one of those, I would say M&E is the better choice. Dr A is clear that the Fat Fast is a tool to induce ketosis in the severely metabolically resistant, and not for those who want to lose fat fast. And that it is "risky" for those who are not truly metabolically resistant.

All the best! :)

Depends on if your body is sensitive to protein. I would do better on a fat fast, but ymmv.

If you're just starting, you need to do induction properly. It'll "jump start" just fine. The fat fast can be dangerous and can throw your metabolism out of whack. Besides, if you're going to do the "diet" the way you want, why even try to follow the book in the first place? But whatever you do, good luck.

A compromise if you want a good "jump start" on induction: do it without the fun stuff like processed meats or cheese. Just eat plain eggs, meat, fat, and veggies. Nobody ever gained weight eating celery and lettuce. It'll work, trust me!
