Birth Problems Follow Short-Spaced Pregnancies
ISLAMABAD: An interval of less than 6 months between
pregnancies seems to increase the likelihood of
delivering prematurely, and the chances that the baby will not
survive. Several studies have linked a short interpregnancy
interval with adverse outcomes, but many of these studies
failed to take into account other factors such as the health
of the mother.
To address this, Dr. Gordon C. S. Smith, from The Rosie
Hospital in Cambridge, UK, and colleagues assessed
the first and second birth outcomes of nearly 90,000 women for
whom complete pregnancy data was available.
All of the second births occurred within five years of
the first.
