To all,

I am looking for a solid book that focuses on building strength and not one focused on bodybuilding. It seems that all the books focus on building huge muscles but do not focus on increasing overall strength. I am looking for a book which has some science to it, training principles, advanced strength techniques, and exercise guidelines.

Thanks

You might try "The New Power Program" by Dr. Michael Colgan.
http://www.applepublishing.com if you can not find it elsewhere. His focus is on powerful, usable muscles, not big ones that look pretty when they are all greased up. (although some of his clients have considerable muscles!)

All the best!

Any book on sports performance will show you how to train to generate power and strength.

High Performance Sports Conditioning by Bill Foran is good.

While you're at it, just check out the website for human kinetics publishing. They have tons of books that should be right up your alley.
