It was the lowest dosage that Bio-Tech sold, and I think we're supposed to produce a ton of vitamin D3 from the sun (about 10,000 IU/day), but don't quote me on it. I suppose it felt right, in conjunction with taking my current dose of calcium and magnesium. The first time I took the 5K IUs of D3 from Bio-tech, I literally felt like my teeth were changing their arch. Sure, it may sound a bit out there, but that's what I felt, so I made sure to take a ton of MCHC pills (equivalent to 1200mg of calcium), and soon thereafter supplemented with magnesium to make sure the calcium was being absorbed. It's one thing to have the vitamin D3 helping certain areas of my body repair damage/prevent cancer and whatnot, but if it's destroying K's of $'s of dental and orthodontia work, heck no! So, just make sure you're getting plenty of absorptive, bio-available, calcium with necessary magnesium so that you don't lose bone mass, because it tends to come off of my skull first (mainly my teeth, eek).
I'm about out of the MCHC tablets too, and I ordered bone meal (I only have to take 1 tablespoon or teaspoon, I can't remember now, of it a day, which is way way easier than popping 6 large MCHC pills! Also, there's more magnesium in the bone meal, and it's a lot cheaper than the MCHC pills. The only potential negative part about it is it might contain trace amounts of lead, but I've been told that eating parsley or cilantro will help absorb most of the toxic metals in your body..? So, I eat cilantro with my supplements or dinner as well..it's not too hard to incorporate into the meal or just eat plain.

Can anyone give me more information about the connection between vitamin D and calcium, and should these supplements be taken together, and how does magnesium fit in?
