I get the same problem with (and it appears within 30-45 minutes of ingestion):
Milk & cheese (I can eat 1 deli slice of swiss or 2 oz of mozz but not both and I can eat some cream cheese but not sure how much; I cannot eat cheddar or provolone, etc) BUT I can eat a 'small' ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery (which is not small).
Peanuts ... as few as 10 peanuts. But I can eat peanut butter with no problem.
And it's happened with (what used to be my staple) of rotisserie chicken & mayo (1/2 the chicken and 2T mayo over the course of 4-5 hours). Yet I can eat mayo in the rev rolls, in salad and other dishes. And I can eat rotisserie chicken till I'm stuffed.
Having the problem with the chicken/mayo and milk & cheese is new - peanuts used to do it then stopped and now do it again.
The only common 'ingredient' I see is fat. Does anybody else see a commonality besides the fat? Does/can the body build up a tolerance for more fat?
Thanks!
Oh - it's almost a shame Cold Stone doesn't make me sick - since I'm not eating it anyway. LOL

Dr Atkins strongly believed that most of us have food allergies / intolerences - but rarely did people figure out what they were and stop eating those foods - so the bowel disease prescription drug makers and surgerons were doing a booming business.
You are doing very well figuring out what ails you. Figuring this stuff out is a pain. Have you tried sour cream instead of mayo?
I found that I am intolerant of calcium. I have to take it in small quantities throughout the day. If I have like a big bowl of ice cream or a big cheese quesadialla (I love those) then I suffer for the next couple of days.
I obviously had a problem with grains - but that was eliminated with low carb diet - so NBG.
But getting back to the food insensitivities - it is a real pain because it can take a couple of days for something to show up. So you basically have to pick one or two foods that you know you don't have any problem with, eat them (and only them) for 3 days (to clean out your system) and then add one thing for 3 days to see how it goes, go back to your baseline for three days, introduce one other new food for three days, etc.

Sounds like you have food intolerances.
They can have long term effects that are pretty nasty so you might be well advised to figuring them out and avoiding those foods.
Keep a food journal and try an elimination diet or you can get tested for typical food intolerances at Enterolab.com

Thank you Kebaldwin and Nancy ... appreciate the info.
I've done the elimination diet - at least for foods I know affect me. For example, chicken without mayo is good and mayo without chicken is good. But if I combine the two (i.e., half a rotisserrie chicken and 2T of mayo) ... is no good. That's why I think it is the fat content my body ojbects too.
And I know milk and certain cheeses affect me. Which (in my mind) makes it really odd that ice cream does not. Same with peanuts and peanut butter.
The problem shows up almost immediately. And has never lasted more than 2 hours.
Oh - I haven't tried sour cream in place of mayo cuz I hate (ok, strongly dislike) sour cream. But I think I'll test it out and see what happens.
I'll keep experimenting. And I'll check out Enterolab.com too.
Thanks!

BTW - when you are talking about dairy (milk, cheese, etc) it could be a lactose problem, a dairy protein (I forgot the proper name) problem, or with me - it turned out to be calcium.
I quickly realized that I had a problem with dairy. I figured - it must be lactose. I tried lactose free stuff - and the problem persisted. Then I figured - well since I am not eating any dairy - I better start taking calcium pills so I get enough calcium. The problem came back.
So it takes a lot of trial and error, cause and effect.
The point is - most people over 40/50 have these problems - but they never take the time to figure out what they are. Luckily, you are taking the time.

you can get tested for typical food intolerances at Enterolab.com
Does that $369 test include all the individual tests?

You'll have to consult that web site, I don't recall all their pricing stuff.
