Beat the Next Big Epidemic of Diabetes Without Risky Drugs...

want to make one thing clear: you don't have to rely on prescription drugs to prevent - or even reverse - diabetes. Today I'm going to reveal the first step to treat it safely, effectively, and naturally.

You've probably already heard about the controversies surrounding FDA-approved drugs like Vioxx and Celebrex. They were rushed to approval and immediately became top-sellers... until they discovered major risks to your health, including heart attack.

Now it turns out another "wonder" drug - Avandia for diabetes - will put you at similar risks.

Despite what the medical establishment tells you, adult diabetes is NOT a genetic disease without a cure requiring treatment for life. I've helped hundreds of my own patients completely reverse their diabetes.

It's a problem of inadequate and unbalanced nutrition.

So rather than just "learning to live with it," I'm going to give you two powerful minerals and one potent antioxidant to help you turn the tables on a disease that already afflicts 20 percent of Americans over sixty.

By taking a few simple steps, you can:

Return your blood sugar to healthy levels
Lower your blood pressure
Boost energy and lose weight
And so much more...
What Your Doctor May Never Tell You About Diabetes...
Most people believe that diabetes is a problem of high blood sugar. High blood sugar is a symptom of the diabetes. But it's not the root cause.
The major problem in adult diabetes is excess insulin. Insulin is the hormone that your body uses to move sugar from the blood into the cells where it's burned for energy.
High-carb foods will spike your blood sugar. In response, your body will produce more insulin to move that sugar into your cells. But over time, the extra insulin makes your cell's receptors less sensitive to insulin.

You then develop both elevated insulin and blood sugar levels, and your body compensates by producing more and more insulin... Your body becomes less sensitive to insulin-we call this condition insulin resistance.

Too much insulin in the blood:1

Converts excess glucose into fat stores causing you to gain weight.
Triggers the creation of triglycerides, a risk factor for heart disease.
Lowers HDL cholesterol levels increasing risk of heart disease and other diseases.
Impairs the body's sodium balance, which raises blood pressure.
Damages the kidneys.
Damages the vascular system contributing to heart disease, retinopathy (eye damage), and neuropathy (nerve damage).
Big Pharma Puts You at Risk Again...
The medical industry's response - to focus on lowering blood sugar-is appropriate for immediate care. But it ignores the cause - the insulin problem. Sometimes drugs make the cause worse by stimulating even more insulin production.

Hormones are powerful. When you have too much of any hormone, your body reacts by making your body less sensitive to it - as a way of protecting itself. But over time, your body will lose the ability to respond altogether.

Then along came Avandia, or rosiglitazone, which at first seemed to address this problem. The manufacturer marketed its ability to help sensitize the body to insulin and Big Pharma had a big hit. Avandia became another blockbuster, with total U.S. sales of $2.2 billion in 2006 as doctors and their patients rushed to embrace this latest treatment.

There's just one fly in the soup. A new study in The New England Journal of Medicine found that Avandia could kill you.2

Pooled results of several studies on nearly 28,000 people revealed a 43 percent higher risk of heart attack for those taking Avandia compared to people taking other diabetes drugs or no diabetes medication.

Once again, Big Pharma put profits ahead of your well being. This time, however, the government and the medical establishment is taking notice. Several congressmen are finally calling for a complete overhaul of the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations new drug approval process.

So what can you do to treat diabetes without exposing yourself to the dangers of the drug industry?

Take Control with 3 Simple and Safe Supplements
Here are my top three supplements for anyone with diabetes or at risk for diabetes:

Vanadium, a crucial trace mineral, mimics the action of insulin. This means it helps move glucose from the blood into the cells where it can be used as energy. It works by making cells more sensitive to insulin, which stimulates the movement of glucose into cells. It also inhibits the absorption of glucose from the gut, reducing damaging glucose and insulin spikes.3

Vanadium

In one study, people with diabetes took a vanadium supplement for three weeks. After just three weeks the average participant's blood sugar levels dropped by 10%.
Chromium is another important mineral to help control and even reverse diabetes. In one study, participants took chromium picolinate and biotin for 30 days. All participants had diabetes. After 30 days, participants' cholesterol had dropped an average of 19 points, with LDL cholesterol (the kind that can contribute to heart disease) dropping by more than 10 points. Even more important, the average fasting blood sugar level fell by 26 mg/dL.4

Chromium

Lowering your fasting blood glucose level is the first step to preventing diabetes if you're at risk. It's also the key to controlling-and even reversing-diabetes.

Because high blood sugar and high insulin levels both damage your circulatory system and your nervous system, addressing these risks is an important part of treating diabetes.

Alpha lipoic acid plays a key role. ALA helps to control and prevent nerve and circulatory damage done by diabetes. In one study, people taking ALA showed improved blood pressure, reduced nerve damage, and better circulation.5

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Use the easy chart below to guide you in making the best use of these three supplements.

Supplement
Dosage
When to take it

Vanadium
500 mcg 3x daily
(Do not take more than 10 mg in a day.)
Take with meals.

Chromium with biotin
500 mcg chromium 3x daily
2 mg biotin daily
Take with meals

Alpha Lipoic Acid
100 mg twice daily
Take with meals

Chromium makes your cells more receptive to the action of insulin. ALA improves your body's use of glucose. Vanadium mimics insulin, lowering your body's overall need to produce insulin. Together, these three nutritional supplements give you a powerful support system to help permanently reverse diabetes and restore your good health.

Of course, curbing your carbohydrate intake and controlling the glycemic index of your carbs are important steps to reversing diabetes. You can get my Wellness Research Foundation's Glycemic Index Guide by clicking HERE.

Any diabetics here tried Vanadium? I looked it up on Vitacost.com (who has an interest in selling it), and even there it wasn't touted as the next great thing. It has only a 1 out of 3 stars science rating in efficacy in treatment of diabetes type II, and the following info was also given:

Science Ratings Health Concerns
Type 2 diabetes

For an herb, supported by traditional use but minimal or no scientific evidence. For a supplement, little scientific support and/or minimal health benefit.

Who is likely to be deficient?
Deficiencies of vanadium have not been reported in humans, and it is not known whether this mineral is essential for humans.

How much is usually taken?
As yet, research indicates that most people would not benefit from vanadium supplementation. Optimal intake of vanadium is unknown. If vanadium turns out to be essential for humans, the estimated requirement would probably be less than 10 mcg per day. An average diet provides 15–30 mcg per day.

Are there any side effects or interactions?
Information about vanadium toxicity is limited. Workers exposed to vanadium dust can develop toxic effects. High blood levels have been linked to manic-depressive mental disorders, but the meaning of this remains uncertain.1 Vanadium sometimes inhibits, but at other times stimulates, cancer growth in animals. However, the effect in humans remains unknown.2

Vanadium is not known to interact with other nutrients.

At the time of writing, there were no well-known drug interactions with vanadium.

1. Naylor GJ. Vanadium and manic depressive psychosis. Nutr Health 1984;3:79–85 [review].

2. Chakraborty A, Ghosh R, Roy K, et al. Vanadium: a modifier of drug metabolizing enzyme patterns and its critical role in cellular proliferation in transplantable murine lymphoma. Oncology 1995;52:310–4.

Not sure I want to risk manic depression or cancer to lower by BG a few points, when there are other ways to do that, but would be interested to hear anyone's real world experiences with it.

MizKitty:

I take all three: Chromium Picolinate, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Vanadyl Sulfate (vanadium).

Vanadium is an essential trace mineral and we already get it if we're eating a normal diet. It is in my Multi-vitamin supplement (50 mcg). Research shows that it can help push the insulin better into the cells and out of the blood stream. Also, research shows that safe levels are thought to be under 100 mcg per day. We probably get about 10-30mcg per day from diet alone. I have not experienced any side affects from taking it. I have seen benefits from taking it. As for risks, keeping BG up a few points when it can be brought down safely is a risk also..... I am going to die of something, but I think I'd rather die of something that allows me to feel healthier while I'm still living... If I change my mind later (its possible), I'll let you know...:)

The problem is, if you get cancer 5 years down the road, you or your doctor will never pinpoint vanadium as the cause.

Still, I'm asking because if it works to lower BG, I'm interested.
Where are these research studies that shows it works to push insulin into cells better?

MzKitty,

I would gladly tell anyone, "believe what you want to believe". I believe if I was still taking the 8 prescription medications a day, my pancreas would have shut down on me several months ago and I would be on insulin every day without a choice in the matter. That is what my Doctor's predicted.

Also, I did not have good health when I started my natural approach and the three things listed in KEBaldwin's post are all natural in my opinion. I had out of control diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obese, and loss of sexual function. These problems have all gone away since I began my quest for health last October. For all I know, I could be dead now from a heart attack or complications of those medications. All my medications had been doubled within the last year I was taking them. My health was going to hell in a hand basket. I don't need scientific proof and scientific research to tell me I am doing better now. I am. Are my troubles over? NO. Do I have to continue to monitor my health and adjust my natural approach as I see fit for the rest of my life? YES.

When I get a chance, I will post a reference as you requested, but it all comes down to belief in something, no matter how much proof you read. There is a lot of proof out there of the validity of all the medications I was taking, but still my health was getting worse. For me, the hardest thing to overcome was the lack of belief that I could control my health in a positive way by making decisions for myself. The reason for my lack of belief was all the scientific research that had me in fear, but now I believe I have to decide for myself what to believe, no matter what anyone else believes or says. Belief is faith. Faith does have a "mind over matter" affect on our health also. Is there proof of that? NO....

I agree 100%. My doctors told me that I had no choice but to take a handful of pescription drugs for the rest of my life.

People told me that the Atkins diet would kill me. High levels of supplements were dangerous. And my exercise program was worthless.

I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. Granted it is going on 4.5 years and did not happen instantaneous like most people demand ...

I started thinking about the idea of linking cancer to a specific cause. I'm guessing here, but I doubt if 1 in 10 diagnosed cancers can be linked to a specific cause, perhaps not even 1 in a 100.....

I thought about furnishing a link, but decided against it. I just wanted to share my experience, not prove anything. It is easy enough to go to any internet search engine and type "Vanadium" and go to any of the multitude of websites that will give out information for and against this trace mineral and read to reach your own conclusions.

I would not take it in such a dose that it alone would lower my blood sugar, but as part of a regimen of things that I take, all of which seem to be within tolerant levels so that none become toxic to me, I haven't experienced any problems thus far.

No matter what you decide to believe or do, I hope you can control your diabetes and also control all of the complications of this dreaded disease... Good luck...
