Do any of you keep calendars or charts to keep track of your progress and motivate you?

If so do you know anything I can print off line. I did Atkins almost a year ago and lost a lot of weight, maintained it as well. I recently started Atkins again to lose a few more additional pounds.

In day three.

I keep a journal here on this site. You're welcome to visit it any time and see how I use it. Just click on the little green "Journal" box at the bottom of this message.

Generally, I list my total calories, and grams of carbs, fiber, fats and proteins each day, plus the foods I ate at each meal and for snacks. Others who stop in to visit me can review my stats and offer suggestions for improvements, especially if I'm having difficulties. Then I ramble on about what's going on in my life, and if I seem to need support or encouragement (such as when my beloved old dog was dying), my friends make posts that really are wonderful.

I also use the My P.L.A.N. tracking tool on this site to track what I eat every day. It helps me to keep everything in proper balance. My P.L.A.N. also has an area where you can keep charts of your weight, the amount of various types of exercise you do, and even daily notes to yourself. It really is a great and helpful tool!

I don't know if you can print the records, but it seems that I saw that question once in the My P.L.A.N. Support Forum, and the answer was 'yes'. Not sure, though.

I am not aware of anything online. I can tell you what I did though, which was really motivating. I took a calendar and figured out what my projected weight would be each week (I took my weight each Saturday and recorded it). After having been on Atkins a few months when I started this, I knew that I was averaging a loss of 1.9 pounds per week. I was not only able to figure out the date I "should" reach goal, but was able to compare my projections with what the scale actually said. I was really lucky though in that my weight loss never stalled. Anyway, it was a great motivator for me (I started last June and calculated that I would reach goal by late November, which I did). November just did not seem that far away and I probably started doing what I described right about now last year. Best of luck to you ...

go to fitday.com--It keeps track of everything you eat each day, carbs, fat, calories, protein..etc...and shows a total and a pie chart. Aslo has a place to enter your weight and goal weight and goal date-then it shows how much you need to loose each week to obtain your goal weight. I love it!
Only, I am kinda new (2nd week in induction) and I have been averaging 12-15 carbs a day, about 1500 to 1800 calories and 125 grams of fat a day. I have been losing fast, but want to do it all right. Anyone have any feed back on if these numbers are right, or good. I need to know if I am on the right track?
I am also having trouble getting most of my carbs from salad veggies and not overdoing the fat (which adds tons of calories)
I eat salad with onions, celery, radishes and cheese and dressing--seems like I can't get enough carbs to satisfy the 12-15 carbs a day I'm s'posed to have of just salad veggies.
Any suggestions will help. And let me know if I am on the right track. Thanks a lot!

I dont know why people think 12-15 carbs a day have to be salad veggies. I hear it a lot. Let me tell you, mine arent. I do eat veggies every day, but I wouldnt say 15g of carbs come from them! I'd say about 10. Do you count total carbs or net? I do net.

I am no expert, though! This is just my opinion, and I tend to tweak things to my own liking, but I think you are looking just fine! It's ok to eat higher fat if your carbs are lower, particularly in induction. Eat fat, get thin! What do you consider "over-doing" it on fat? How much/in what form are you eating?

It doesnt have to be just salad veggies, either. You can have some broccoli or cauliflower or zuchini or something. Would that make veggie intake easier? Personally, I prefer my veggies cooked with evoo and garlic more than I like salad.

Anyway, ymmv. Some need to count calories, some need to only when they are trying to lose the last 10 lbs, some need more fat, others need less. If it's working for you, and you feel good and are satisfied with your menu, keep it up! Dont fix what aint broken.

Sorry OP, didnt mean to thread jack. I agree with the others that journaling and myplan are awesome tools. Sometimes i slack off on using them, but I am always more successful when i am conisistenly tracking.

I dont know why people think 12-15 carbs a day have to be salad veggies.I'm fairly certain that Dr. A. wrote this in one of his books. Sorry, I don't have time to find an exact quote, along with the edition and page, for you right now, but perhaps someone else will. If you don't follow Atkins, then the statement doesn't apply to you, and you can freely ignore it. If your personal tweaks work for you, then more power to you! :)

You see it mentioned often because a lot of the members here follow the Atkins plan. It's usually offered as advice to newbies who haven't read one of Dr. A.'s books. :)

Thanks for the input. I lost 11 lbs in the first week and a half, so I must be doing something right. AND I feel great! I Will not stress so much over the salad vs regular veggies!
