For those of us in the USA, it's Independence Day... a day to celebrate our freedom. For those who aren't in the USA, I invite you to celebrate via this forum with us. I hope everyone enjoys the celebrations today and thinks about our countrymen who fought all those years ago to obtain our freedom. And I hope we all give thanks for our soldiers who are still fighting for freedom today.

I was thinking about it this morning and those of us in the TDC really are fighting for our independence, too. Dictionary.reference.com offers one definition of independence as:
freedom from the control, influence, support, aid, or the like, of others.

Boy, if that doesn't describe how I want to live in my old age, nothing does! For those of us with a lot of fat to lose, we really are fighting for our independence. So while we are celebrating our country's freedom, we should celebrate and give thanks for having found the low carb way of life, too!

I am thankful everyday that I don't have such pressure on my knees anymore. If I had kept on as I was, I would probably have been walking with a cane well before my old age. It's hard to know what the future will bring, but if I had kept all that excess fat on my body, I would have had less chance of living a long life.

And I am truly blessed for having found this forum and all the wonderful support the folks here provide. Without all of you, I may have given up the battle a long time ago. Over 95% of the people who lose weight regain it. I am confident that it is because of the people here on this forum that I have been able to get back on the low carb wagon this year and continue my weight loss journey. I was on my way to being one of those 95% and because you are here, I have been able to turn that around. Thank you all for being there for me.

How are you celebrating your new found freedom today?

Well said Dianne. Happy Independence Day to you. . .and may every day for the rest of our lives be independence days.

As for how we're celebrating--the excessive rains here have resulted in our plans being cancelled--not too sure yet what we'll actually do.

It has rained here all day...hubby is now lighting the grill for some beef ribs and a London Broil (will cut this into strips for salads, stir fry, etc.). I am gonna splurge and have some watermelon, tho (til it's gone  )
