:help: Hello. I'm Cheryl. I've been battling the buldge for all my adult life. The most weight I ever lost was from a size 30 to a size 14, and it almost got me, too...it was done too quickly and in extreme dieting and pills and exercise. Now I'm back up almost that big again. I've been going on and on with yo-yo diets and various diets. I've lost up to 35 lbs. before on Atkins, but always got off when hubby or someone waved cake or ice cream in front of me and I'd gain tons back. I just really need some ideas and help. I don't know how many eggs are safe to eat. My Dr. gave me a bill of health, not diabetic or anything. But, she says I need to lose weight NOW or it could get that way. I did good today, but it's always day-to-day with me. I get so hungry on this diet. I crave sweets like the dickens. :help:

Hi Cheryl! :) Welcome to the board!

As for being hungry and craving sweets on Atkins, the solution is very simple! Stick to the induction plan 110%, avoid even the "legal" foods that can trigger cravings - like splenda, cream cheese, and certainly any of the atkins bars / shakes / icre creams, etc. Within a few days, as your body switches from sugar metabolism to fat metabolism (ketosis lipolysis) the cravings will go away. As long as you continue to avoid anything that may trigger them again, you'll be fine!

As for being hungry.. the great thing about Atkins is that you can eat whenever you're hungry! Just eat something from the allowed foods list.

Foods high in protein and fat fill you up fast and keep you full longer than carbs anyway, its great! :)

Best of luck to you!

Morgan

Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody. I know that it's been a rainy 4th of July here. SIGH. Oh, well. Does anyone have a VERY SIMPLE, FEW INGREDIENTS satisfaction for chocolate? Today, I tried to melt some cocoa powder with sweetener and crisco, and it didn't turn out so great. It was like eating chocolate-flavored fat...which was ESSENTIALLY what it was! LOL
Well, RECIPES ARE WELCOME!!! HAPPY 4TH EVERYONE!!!

I know how to do alot with the blender, and baking and all... but if all the ingredients I had were mainly eggs, cocoa powder, splenda, and water... what could i make in the way of like a shake? I have experimented with melting vegetable shortening, cocoa, and sweetener together...and it was,"okay" but very fatty. How else can I make chocolate? DESPERATE> :help:
