Hello,
Just wondering if there is anyone out there taking the CBLOCKER pills :q:
I have been taking them for about 2 weeks now and my ketosis strips have always been around medium pink. Are they bad for you health wise :q: I have not heard anything bad about and i have heard a few (on this site) who love them.
Let me know if you have read anything on these pills.
Thanks,
Maria

I use the carb blockers as insurance. If I am going to eat out, I take 2 pills in case the food has carbs I don't know about. I have occassionally used them if I was going to east bad stuff. Once I took 3 and ate chinbees food. I was back in ketosis in one day but I stopped losing weight on that plan. In summary, I think they work but I am using them just as insurnce.

Hello,
CBlockers block up to 32 carbs per meal when you take two 15 mins before each meal. I don't take that many but I do take them everyday just to make sure I am in ketosis everyday. It seems like they give me a bit of a stomach ache and sometimes gives me diarrhea which made me start wondering if there are any negative health problems that go along with taking these. I take three a day, once in the morning, mid-afternoon and then in the evening. I have only heard positives about them, anyone hear anything at all about these pills??

Hello,
CBlockers block the carbs and break down the carbs in your body. The ingrediant is 700mg of Trim Plex (a natural fractionated protien from Kidney bean extract). I just don't know if it's good or bad for you. I have heard positives about it from people on this site. I have energy but sometimes I think it gives me a stomach ache and diarrhea. It does keep you in ketosis. I only take three pills a day. According to the directions, I should be taking six a day. I started taking them because I have come to a stall so I thought this might help me get started again.

Hello,
I'm using them because I have come to a stall and I thought this might help me get started again and as an insurance, just to make sure I stay in ketosis. My strips are not a deep pink, just a pink color. I have been drinking crystal light and I wonder if that has anything to do with it :q: Have you heard anything health wise about CBlockers :q:
By the way, to the other person who asked what CBlockers are, they are pills that are suppose to block (or break down) carbs entering into you system. You take it 15 min before each meal and it will block up to 35 grams of carbs per meal. I don't take in 35 grams so I don't take as many pills as instructed, only half of what is instructed to take.

Greywolf,
This is off the subject. I know someone stationed there at Edwards AFB. The name is Terrance Steele. Do you know him?

Hello Sally,
Yes they did. As a matter of fact, my husband has been very sick so I have not been able to stick with my diet until recently. I have only been taking them for about 2 weeks ( about 8/9 days) and have lost 2 lbs, i'm down to 182 lbs. I think i'm going to take the instructed amount of 2 before each meal and see what happens. I'll let you know. Remember to drink alot of water and if you find out anything negative about them please let me know.

Sally, I forgot. Click on the "low carb shopping" at the top of the page. I ordered them from there. I think you can look at a full list of products and thats where they will be.
Let me know how you do on them.

Thanks Greywolf. Just thought I'd ask. He just got stationed to Maryland about 2 or 3 weeks ago. He comes down to Dallas quite often working with Bell Helicopter, are you familiar with Bell Helicopter?

Since we are talking about Carb Blockers, has anyone tried Fat Solutions AM or PM? I started a week ago, and was hoping it would help my stall too. Here's the web site if anyone is curious what it is.

Is Fat Solutions like Body Solutions? My husband has been taking Body Solutions but they make him feel funny so he stopped. I never tried it because i don't want to feel funny. :( Has Fat Solutions worked for you? :q:

Mimami4,
I don't know if those two are the same or not. This doesn't make me feel funny at least. I have only been using this for 9 days now. I haven't noticed any changes yet, but I'll just use up the containers I have (I think they're 60 day supplies) and see if I see any results.

I am reading along your thread. I'm a little confusioned, I can understand if you are going to use these on special occasions but wouldn't the use of these everyday be counter productive. I really enjoy this way of eating and plan to stay away from the refined starch and sugars for the rest of my life. Now I'm not saying that I will not eat these things ever but I am concerned that if you come to rely on these pills that you will not learn how to eat properly and that you will fall off the wagon when the pills are gone. Another concern is that if it is blocking carb's what other things is it blocking, ie water, vitamin, mineral or any other of the vital nutrients that we need to be healthy. I know that this is a little off topic, but I really like the way everyone is so friendly and helpful on this site and I wouldn't want anyone to get sick or hurt their body because they were taking something that is questionable. I hope you don't mind me dropping in and what ever you decide I hope you will continue on this WOL, it sure has made me look and feel alot better.
Yours Truely Jo-Ann

Hi Jo-Ann 2,
I agree with you about making this a way of eating forever. I too plan on doing that. However, I am just frustrated at my slow weight loss and I thought this would help. What I'm using isn't a carb blocker, it's some natural ingredients that are supposed to burn fat quicker.
You are correct, everyone is very helpful and friendly on this web site. Just yesterday, I found a recipe for the mock danish and I think I died and went to heaven. It is delicious.
Thank you for your concern about taking these. I know it probably isn't a good idea to, but I'm wanting to speed things up if I can. 7 months and 18 pounds isn't very quick for me. I do know that a couple of the months I was the eating the low carb chocolate bars sold in the store. Through this web site, I found out they have hidden carbs. Well, at least I know how to maintain now, if I want to eat those bars.

I went to the link on the fat blockers and copied this
Chitosan is a dietary fiber derived from chitin. Chitin is an aminopolysaccharide (combination of sugar and protein) that comes from the shells of shellfish. Chitosan can absorb up to 4-6 times its weight in fat (including cholesterol) and prevent that fat from being absorbed.
:( :( :(
I have been taking fat blocker pills this week because I am on the meat fast (since monday) and should not have any fat. I have been adding some butter to my meals so I thought the fat blocker pills would help with that.
I weigh in tomorrow and I really hope the sugar has not affected my loss!

Hi LoriL,
What is the link for the fat blockers? The one I'm using is a liquid form (take one Tablespoon). There claim is it's good for low carb diets and they show 0 carbs for a Tablespoon.
Are you taking something different and if so, do they list the carb count?

LorL,
Oops, never mind my question about the link. That was the link I put in (duh). I didn't see the list of ingredients they had on the web site. Probably because I'm using the Fat Solutions AM and PM. It doesn't have the Chitosan in it. It's not considered a "fat blocker" like the Chitosan is.
Is it working for you? On this WOE, I don't think you need to worry about the fat that you have. I was under the impression the meat fast was just to eat very very low carbs to expedite the weight loss. The fat is what's good for this WOE; am I wrong?

Mimami4,
I just looked on the Body Solutions web site, and it sounds like they are very similar (although it looks as if Body Solutions costs more). It sounds like they have an eating program too. They say, "Don't skip breakfast; replace at least one high-fat/high-calorie meal a day, reduce snacking and eat sensibly". Fat Solutions doesn't have an eating program, but they to mention they are good for the low carb diets because it doesn't have any carbs in it.

There is no carb count on the bottle, I am taking pills, I forget the brand, somthing like thermo-genexx.
The meat fast I am on, Stillmans I believe, is basically meat only with fat cut off and no fat added. You can also eat eggs. I am doing it for the week only then I am back on atkins. It is supposed to jumpstart the weight loss when you are stalled.

Let me know how it works for you. I've been on many plateaus and they can get frustrating at times--so I feel for ya'.

Things I've learned that work for me when I stall are
-drink more water then wait a couple of days to weigh yourself, it takes a few days for your
body to accept the water it needs without retaining it like you haven't had a glass of water in years. Water wieght can be drepressing, but it certainly helps the breathe and my concentration (go figure)
-I have to stay away from all sweeteners, including, splenda (I must admit that was hard to do, I use to love sugar free jello and crystal light) but now it doesn't bother me.
-exercise really does make a difference, yes this coming from the person that knows it is good for me, enjoys it when I'm into the routine but has a hard time getting started.
-and last but not least find some buddies on a thread and laugh a little, catch each other when you stumble and remember that you are worth it.
Yours Truely Jo-Ann

Hi Joanne,
Thanks for the advise about the plateaus. I have heard some people say artificial sweetners causes them to plateau. Nobody ever says why because it is still a carb like any other carb. If I'm in ketosis, why would the Splenda cause a stall. Are you positive it was the Splenda or did you cut out the Splenda and exercise around the same time?
Jo-Ann 2
Thu, Mar-07-02, 14:22
Ever notice that things with splenda taste really good and because they have no carb's in them they're allowable. Well that's what I thought. But I stalled. Then I started looking around for information. This is what I learned- when you eat something sweet, no matter what the source your body reacts by releasing insulin, it's ready for those carbohydrates that it always used for a quick fuel, it doesn't realize it's not coming but the insulin is already in you blood system and therefore your body is not ready to burn fat but carbohydrates.
I guess that's why when I started eating this way I felt tired, I had a headache and I was cranky, no quick fix from carb.s my body had to change from burning carbohydrates for fuel to fat. I think the sweeteners trick the body into thinking that it's going to get carbohydrates so when it doesn't you don't gain weight but you don't lose it either.
Now there are definitely people that have no problem with sweeteners and I would love to be one of them. I find even the unsweetened peanut butter gives me trouble but I have no problem with cheese which stalls other people. This is definitly a journey of discovery. I wish I had a perfect answer for you but I am still learning. I definitly like not having food control me like it use to though.
Yours Truely Jo-Ann
P.S. it wasn't exercise that did it for me, and I've added sweeteners to a couple of days in the past, there is definitly a no, no for me. But I don't add wieght when I eat it, I just don't lose for a week.

As Jo Ann has explained, artificial sweetners do cause some people to react to them as though they were the real thing. This explanation can be found in many places within the forum if you use the Search function located at the top right hand corner of every page. Doreen has also written a very detailed explanation of Sugar, Sugar alcohols and Artificial Sweetners under "Low Carb Tips" (in orange highlight at the top of every page)

Carb Blockers eh?? I would like to take a look at those. My hubby has a whopping 15 lbs to lose before he will qualify for the military (Air Force) He's 6'3" and isn't overweight but needs to be fairly slim to be able to enlist. Anything that can help him shed those pounds quickly would be a great help. I wouldn't recommend taking them all the time, but they would be a great help around the holidays so that christmas or thanksgiving dinner isn't so forbidden :)
Anyhow, does anyone have a link as to where you can buy those online?? Thanks!!!!

Vensula,
Here's the web site for the carb blockers. I haven't used those in a while; I'm using the fat burner liquid stuff. I hope it helps.
