In his blog today, Jimmy Moore has passed on some incorrect information. He recieved an e-mail from someone who said he was inspired by Governor Huckabee from Arkansas who lost weight on the Atkin's Diet. From all that I have read, that is not the case. Gov. Huckabee was on a controlled weight loss program run by the University of Arkansas. I googled Huckabee and Atkins and found the only Atkins mentioned was Atkins High School where Gov. Huckabee gave a speech about weight control and fitness. I have also read Gov. Huckabees book about his weight loss and don't recall the Atkins Diet mentioned.
According to USA Today the program Gov. Huckabee follwed included a liquid diet at first with regular food being re-introduced later.
The UAMS program is for "chronic adult obesity" and puts patients through three stages: a liquid diet, reintroduction of food and weight stabilization with long-term maintenance.
It's no easy feat. In the first phase of the program, participants are on a liquid diet and are allowed only small amounts of regular food. They consume between 800 and 1,000 calories per day through a powder-based, low-calorie beverage that has carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.
.......................
Huckabee has embraced the lifestyle, including his new exercise regimen.

I don't think a guy who acts so childishly has any credibility to begin with.

I noticed that he was ranting about people who hate him with every fiber of their being today. I just have lost interest in what he has to say. He has way too inflated opinion of himself.

Jimmy is literally the only even quasi-mainstream lo-carber out there. Instead of writing him off for making a mistake, perhaps we should step up and offer heartfelt corrective advice to him. "Hey Jimmy, I read on your blog that you said (fill in the blank). As someone who firmly believes in the low carb lifestyle, and who also wants the word to keep getting out the way you do, I thought you might want to know that the person who gave you that info may have been misinformed. Here's what I know about that topic......."
I'm not always a fan of his style, but the few things he gets factually wrong still leaves him light years ahead of any mainstean media outlet. I never read his blog, but I never miss his podcast. Encouragement to keep making it better is all he needs.

I don't care about JM's politics or religion except that he professes certain religious beliefs which he then doesn't follow in public, i.e. his extreme attacks on anyone who disagrees with or questions him on low carb, I no longer consider him a good spokesman for low carb because he comes across as a paranoid nutcase with a massive ego who flails away at anyone who dares question him. I've never been a big Jimmy Moore fan but would occasionally read his blog for poops and giggles--until he threw out some really inappropriate stuff about abortion in an argument with a vegan (he LOVES to whale on vegans). What the *^%$ does abortion have to do with low-carb? That's right--nothing. His blog is nothing but ads for frankenfoods or anyone who will pay him to shill stuff mixed with self-important idiocy about how he bests people in arguments. And it's not exactly a swimming endorsement for "la vida low-carb" if one is pictured on his blog with chocolate all over his face.

I did exactly that (almost word for wrd of what you have suggested and was very polite about it too) and he shot back with one of his knee-jerk mean-spirited tirades about how I was trying to tell him how to run his blog and he was doing just fine blogging for two years without any help from me, thank you very much!

I met Jimmy at Dr. Feinman's low carb conference in NYC I think it was January 06. He was a truly nice guy, and his wife was really nice too. He may be different now, but if he's able to support himself with a low carb blog, more power to him. He's not a scientist. And he's been attacked by every LF nut out there; maybe he's just getting a little touchy.

Yep - I see this often at his blog, in the comments section.
