This isn't REALLY a milestone but I started a new job this week and I had to get a uniform shirt. I work in a kitchen and the uniform is a short-sleeved, lightweight chef coat. Well, my boss handed me a coat and told me to try that one....I couldn't get the bottom button done so she handed me another one and I put it on. The bottom button is tight, but I can button it. Anyway...I got home and took off my chef-coat to wash it & when I looked at the tag I was surprised to see, that it's an XL. I thought for sure that the first one I tried that didn't fit was an XL. So it's not really that big of a deal, but it brightened my day a little. It's nice to realize that I'm only Extra large now, instead of Extra EXTRA large.

This isn't REALLY a milestone

Maybe not in the strictest sense of the word--but it's worth celebrating anyway. Congrats. Those mini-milestones add up to big ones.

Congrats on the new job too.

Oh, what a great feeling! Like putting on the hairdresser smock thing and finding out it buttons up.

I'm so glad you have this board with people who know how wonderful you just felt! Congratulations!!!!!

Can I just say how much I LOVE this board. People who have never been very overweight like us just don't understand sometimes. Making the switch from XXL to XL is I guess a big deal at least in my head even if I don't really look any different.

Every step down the clothing size scale is a WONDERFUL step!

That's so cool and guess what? The same thing happened to me...we were "fitted" for uniforms at work and everyone was unhappy, including me. Last year I wore a 3xl. So I told the guy that I needed a big one. He handed me an XL and I laughed. He told me to try it anyway and I went and hid in the other room and tried it and it fit!! I was so happy! So congratulations to you!!!! YAY US.

Congratulations!! Seeing yourself in a smaller size can be more rewarding than the number on the scale sometimes ~ I'm happy for you

BAM! You've lost over 24 lbs at this point and you are seeing it in your clothes so you DO look different. The people we see everyday don't notice the change because it has been so gradual. Around 25-30 lbs lost, you will start hearing it from people you don't see everyday. Keep your eyes on the prize......

my family all think I look substantially different than I did since the last time I've had any real pictures taken (high school) I've lost about 60lbs since then. I just don't think I look any different. My mom & grandma think I'm blind. but I suppose it's psychological

I think it's similar to when you gain weight over time and you "kind of sort of know" that you are overweight, but it's not a reality until you accidentally catch an unintended glimpse in a mirror of 'someone', where you actually think that you are looking at somebody else who is large and over weight, and then you realize it's yourself  - or the picture that somebody snaps of you and then shows you, and you think to yourself - wow, that's me? I don't look like that do I?? I didn't think I looked like 'that'...omg

So I think that it takes a while to change the picture that we hold in our minds of ourselves....whether it's seeing ourselves as bigger than we are, or smaller than we are

Just enjoy that others are noticing :agree: And smaller clothes....now that's nice!!!! Eventually you will "see" it too :sunny:

Honey....it is just that we are our worst critics! Congrats on the job, and hell ya this IS a milestone! Smile and wear that jacket proudly....soon, it will be too big!!!!!

(I got a shirt/blouse a couple of weeks ago, that I simply adore. I can't even come close to fitting in it right now.) But some day...........I WILL!!! :D

Congrats on getting into an XL, BAM!! You are doing so well!!

Yes, it is in our minds....you have lost 60 lbs!! That is alot!! Have you taken any recent pictures that you can use to compare to your old before pics?

Its a good thing to do for your mind to be able to actually see the difference in you....and there is a difference!! :agree: This is how I was able to see my difference as my weight was coming down....look at comparison pics....it helps to be able to see it in your own mind and not have to rely on what others tell you.

That's AWESOME Bam!!! I'm so excited for you! I'm in a 3X right now, and hubby wears an XL. I'm looking forward to the day when I want to wear a flannel shirt or something and I can borrow his clothes. I've always been jealous of the skinny girls who can wear their hubby's jackets or whatever. I've always been bigger than my DH. One day I'm not going to be.

Keep it up! That is so cool!!!
