Any other members from the southern California area? I am in the Inland Empire, east of LA, north of San Diego. Would love to form a group of other LCers!

It's in the triple digits club, so I'm not sure if they'd mind us jumping in?

LOL.....*smacks forehead* what have I started?

I wonder if we can just start a scrapbooking thread?

KikiKitty

I don't see why not. I went out and bought a mini-book and have started making pages for it. I'm going to make some for my husband, too, because he's losing with me (and is my biggest supporter!) Where should we put a thread like that?

Wow, I'm not really sure. Maybe we can ask somewhere? *wonders if there is an "ask the admin" forum on this site*

I went poking around, and there is an off topic area called "The Lounge" and it would probably fit into "Everything Else."

Yeah, I saw that, and I thought that would be a good place to start it too. :) Will try to do that tomorrow, or you can! Either way, let's start it!

Neither of you are very far! San Diego is about an hour south, Redlands is about 35 minutes east-ish! In fact, I go out to Redlands to see my chiropractor, and shop at Collective Journey;-)

Hi Kathleen...

Glad to see some other active SoCal lowcarbers. What is Stella Style? Is that George Stella's program?

Yes. I thought this is going to be a piece of cake, but the weight just won't budge. But I am not as hungry and I'm not gaining, so I'll hang in there.

Hope you're doing well. It's going to get hot this weekend. Yikes.

Kathleen,
Give it a few weeks...there is a period called the "melt" after your body adjusts and uses up that stored fat, you will have a more significant weight loss. My highest weightloss in a week was 8# during a melt period. I lost 20# in a month...that's a melt.

Hot...I heard it's going to be in the 90s..where is that coming from?

You can do it...I know it seems like a daunting task and that's its moving slow for your liking..I can sympathize...I'm just waiting for the melt to begin...it can't come quick enough. But if you need to vent...let it out!!!

I'm in Orange. Been low carbing for 5 1/2 years. Have not reached goal yet but to me it is more important that I am eating right. Even when and if I ever reach goal, I will always eat this way. Plus I began intermittent fasting which has helped to break a 2 year stall. My age is a major detriment to losing weight. Nevertheless this is the dietary lifestyle for me.

I absolutely agree...it is most definitely a lifestyle not a diet. I've been low-carbing on and off for about 4 years. I think most of the people who find low-carb eating works for losing and maintaining their weight, works with their body chemistry. I have insulin resisitance and PCOS, it's what is recommended for those conditions.

Hey fellow So Cal low-carbers,
I'm back on the low-carb wagon again and have jump started my weight loss...6.4# down the first week back, I've really been sticking to level 1 Somersizing and have challenged myself to stick to level 1 thru the end of the year. I'm hoping to get back into onederland by the end of September.

Well, I'm back. I was referred to a gastric surgeon to see if I am a candidate for gastric surgery, preferably lapband as I don't want to be cut open again. But the doctor told me yesterday I am too heavy (BMI is 52) and old (72). He could cut me open but it would be very risky. So, we both agreed that is not the best way for me to go. So, I will get my Dr. Bernstein low carb book for diabetics and my South Beach books back out and start over again. Gotta do this as I have too much ahead of me to stay this big.

I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes about 2 or 3 months ago, and referred to a dietician who insisted I wasn't getting enough carbs. I was so confused and it threw me for a curve. But now I know that low carbs is the only way I can lose. I have not been doing any exercising but now know that I have no choice so I will get on the treadmill and get the body moving. I have a lot of weight to lose and am insulin resistant, but will do what I can to try to get into some sort of shape. So, here I go. So glad this thread is on line.
