I'm getting brave in my old age... I'm actually starting to wear those tops with the built in bras outside of my house. Just a little, though... to water the flowers, take the trash out to the curb and get the mail. I can't wait until I'm thin enough to where they actually look good on me.
I read on here somewhere that thin women come home and kick their shoes off, but we fat women come home and take our bras off. Having a large bust just makes wearing a bra miserable, so these types of tops are great. I wear them around the house all the time, but haven't been brave enough to wear them outside until now. Maybe it's my age... at 51, I've just decided I don't care what my neighbors think, I want to be comfortable.
Do any of the you large chested gals feel comfortable wearing these types of tops in public?
I still want to find some better ones than I have, so would love some ideas of where to find them. I've been looking in stores and online and can't find anything reasonably priced that is supportive. The only ones I've seen that would support me well enough are the sports tops and they are really expensive. I don't want to spend a fortune on them considering I'm still losing weight. Any suggestions? Have you found a brand that you really like?

Hmm, I've seen tops like these at wal-mart. They're tank tops with spaghetti straps and built in bras. Is this what you are referring to?
I've worn them out in public before but only with a top over it...like a short or long sleeved button down. I'm too self conscious of my chest and flabby arms! I, too, would love to be able to wear one out and feel confident! One of these days I will do just that!

I've only begun wearing them recently as my bust needs more support for walking around :o so I wear them as a swimsuit top with a pair of shorts.
But I can see them being worn as a layering piece with a short sleeve shirt or rollup sleeve button front over it and it would look really nice that way.

Gosh, I wish I WAS able to wear them. I've tried some on, but alas the built in bra is always too big! They must think if you're wearing that size, your bust must match! Um, well, it doesn't in my case!

Not with these arms! When I dream, it is of having my bat wings and hip side saddles surgically removed!

oh, and when you reach your arm up the bra goes up too, and you pop out... not pretty.
this year I've surrendered to the bat wings. I use a tanning creamer/moisturizer and I'm letting it go. Not too floppy, but a little chunkier than I like.
I've also had my too hairy forearms lasered... feels great!!!!

I've gotten to the point in my progress that I can wear them and not feel too self conscious. I usually wear them when we go on vacation. I purchased one of those bras that have the clear plastic straps and I'll wear it underneath one of those cami's if I'm going to be walking around alot and will need extra support. i don't know about you guys, but to me, it absolutely sucks having big boobs!
I have lost some weight in my breasts but I sure would love to lose more!

ROFL!! Hahaha! That is SO true.. that is exactly what I do.. too funny!
My daughter loves those bra-tops and thats all she wears, someday, I'd love to wear those too! But for now, its the industrial strength bras for me!
Though.. my sister (older than I am, lost 210 on Atkins) has promised me that when I get to 150, she will cover the costs of my plastic surgery, including the new "bra surgery" - they do a reduction and then put a non-reactive "mesh" inside, a permanent bra! She had it done and man.. she has the greatest boobs! (Not that I looked really.. but you know what I mean! LOL)

I'd like to take a couple of cantaloupes and put them in a bra and strap it onto any man that likes DD sized boobs. One day of shoulder pain and they'd be running for a reduction! lol

And at my age, without a bra they hang to the waist!

I thought it was just me - somehow they think if you need a size 24 you must be at least a D cup, but I have been squeezing a 40B around me for years because it was biggest band size that comes in a B and doesn't pucker in the cup! Oh well, at least this time while I am losing it hasn't all come off my chest - only lost 4 inches there while I have lost 10 inches around my hips - yippee!!!

Hang on- permanent bra surgery?? I want that! I am sick to death of trying to find a bra that gives the right fit and feels comfy. I've been wearing minimizer bras lately, which are not cute.
But I am wearing a halter top with a built in bra from the Gap which rocks. But it's 2 years old...I think they started putting actual bras with cup sizes into them now. I bought one last year and I don't like it as well, makes the girls look too big. I don't know what they're selling this year, haven't looked yet.

Oh, you all are a riot. Yeah, somehow I don't think those little spaghetti strapped ones are gonna work for me. Knowing my luck the straps would break.
I actually thought I'd lose more in the cup size...maybe I was just hoping. I knew lc was good for preserving muscle mass, but not boobs!
And Char, I'll trade you, just let me know when.

Oh this is a great thread. I'm laughing and agreeing at the same time.
BTW, I just finished my aerobics for the evening--and reached around to unclasp my bra just as I sat down to read this. Coincidence? I think not!

This is probably TMI....but if I can't ask here... Speaking of this subject, has anyone noticed a difference in your nipples? As far as which way they point? Or where they are positioned now after losing some weight? I was concerned about mine and went to the doctor. He said it is a common effect of a large weight loss for that to happen. Any one else?

Lisa, it probably depends on whether you've lost a lot of fat in the breasts or not. I haven't, so couldn't say what happens then.
I haven't heard much about this lately around here, but "they" say that the fat redistributes after losing. So a lot of folks lose from the top down and then later on, the fat in their body evens out. If that's true, then I could see where you might lose the fat in odd ways in the breast that would cause them to point in other directions, but then maybe later they go back to being normal.

Thanks Diane...I'm still waiting for ' going back to normal ' lol

When I lost 175 lbs. back in the mid-eighties, my cup size went down to C. This time, they are still DD. I'm hoping the girls get on board and start losing some like the rest of my body soon!

Hi Dianne,
I checked in my Junonia catalog--they are spendy there--but they go up to a size 4 (58" bust) so for people looking for this style, size, and support (it's a zip front bra) the $$ might be worth it.
Have you checked in Chadwick's catalog?

When I lose weight, I lose boobs. Last time around, I lost 48 lbs and went from a big C to a lil B. Now, I have a D cup, and I just hate the thought of losing boobage back down again. It's not the size I miss, Its the thought of the deflated balloon looking things hanging on my chest.
As for the built in bra tops, I'll stick to regular bras, I need that shape!

I am very annoyed with my boobs. 10 years ago, I measured at a B cup and stayed that way for years, sometimes edging into a C. When I was pregnant, everything always got smaller as my weight redistributed towards the belly. My boobs, too. I later found out that is a sign of no milk glands and inability to produce milk, but that's another story. Anyway, for the last few months since my last daughter was born, I have been getting bigger. I have lost 45 pounds but the girls are holding strong and maybe even growing a little. I am now a DD - not a fluke or specific to a certain bra, since I have ordered my old size B bras and they are way too small. In some styles I am an H. Is this an age thing? I am VERY annoyed. Someone actually suggested breast reduction surgery to me the other day.

I haven't checked Chadwick's. I've checked several stores here in town and then finally searched online. I ordered this one: http://www.fogdog.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2055748, but the XL was still too small. And even if they had a larger size, it sure didn't seem like it would have enough support.
Rather than just keep trying to order different ones til I stumbled on one that was supportive, I was hoping someone else on here had tried some and could make a recommendation. I just don't want to have to keep sending them back.

Which one did you buy at womanwithin.com? I may have missed it, but the few I saw didn't really look like they would have much support.
