Sorry if this has already been discussed here/elsewhere but I searched and didn't come up with anything. With all the new research about soy,now saying that it's not so good for women afterall, are black soybeans something we should limit from our LC diet? Thanks for any help.

Sorry, not an "approved list" junkie--my program is "unlimited leaves and stems, very careful roots and fruits." Soybeans would be a high-carb fruit. IMO, there'n insufficient nutritional value in ANY of the beans to warrant their knocking out more enjoyable carbs, but YMMV.

Thanks for posting CS Carver. Actually black soybeans are only 8g carb and 7g fiber per 1/2 serving + 11g protein. My concern is with research that says soy can mimic estrogen in women and also be detrimental to thyroid function. But I can't remember/find what form of soy causes these problems. Is it all soy? :q:

There is a discussion of phytoestrogens at Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoestrogens), and there is more discussion of the controversy under soybeans.

I do use black soy beans on ocasion especially for chili. They do have a very small amount of carbs and they satisfy my craving for beans. But again, they are basically the same as regular soy from what I have read so I limit my use of them.
