Hi, well let's see I have alot of weight to lose. I have gone low carb before and had some success but received pressure to "just count calories" from family before LC was more mainstream. I got stuck in a SlimFast merry-go-round then that took me nowhere. I love eating LC as I have never really been a sweet food lover. So today I am on my second day of Induction and am heading over to start a journal at some point today. I've set my initial goal at a 160 pound loss although could stand to lose more. I love the feeling of being satisfied with what I eat from the Induction list of foods. I have the Atkins book that kinda brings into prespective the whole Induction routine. It is really helpful. Last night I dreamed of a field of pizza as far as I could see. Today I woke up and had bacon and eggs and I am fine.
Just am saying hello and this is the category where I will hang out most I think. I am seeing I need to drink more water and exercise more. Trying to work the exercise thing out as I have sciatica from an auto accident and just moving normally is a chore. And walking distances is out of the question as I use a cane. I would love to buddy up with other post menopausal women who are in the same boat. It is really hard to lose at this stage in life. However I don't think these barriers are going to cause me to lose focus on my goal.

Welcome to the TDC Raggdolly. Sounds as if you're heading the right direction (I always love it when someone has actually read the book).
I've had similar dreams--I remember once I was actually eating something high carb in my dream--and realized what I was doing and was horrified!
I know there are some exercise DVDs available that can be done sitting (upper body things anyway). You might check Amazon.com to see what you can find--things to get you moving without putting any pressure on those legs.

Welcome to the TDC! It's the best place for support.
Good for you on restarting! It can be hard if everyone else is telling you lc is bad for you. So, just go and show 'em. :agree:

http://bestsmileys.com/welcome/4.gif Hi and welcome to TDC raggdolly
So today I am on my second day of Induction and am heading over to start a journal at some point today. I'm glad that you're enjoying Atkins WOE and that things are going well for you with no induction flu or withdrawls etc. Yes, a journal is the best way to go!
longterm unrepentant hippie LOL I can so relate! Trying to work the exercise thing out as I have sciatica from an auto accident and just moving normally is a chore. And walking distances is out of the question as I use a cane. I would love to buddy up with other post menopausal women who are in the same boat. It is really hard to lose at this stage in life. Do you have access to a pool? when I'm in the water I can do things that would kill me on dry land. It takes all the pressure off joints and the spine and really feels so good. I'm in my 50s and after years of yoyoing I'm really having a tough go of getting it off. Several other women here are in similar situations, so you won't be alone in your journey.
I'm glad your here and look forward to getting to know you during your journey.

I'm glad you're here--I can tell you're going to fit right in!
May I suggest that you don't stress too much about the exercise to start? Just getting the food thing together will help you feel better fast. Shaking off 20-30 pounds will make movement much easier.
Also, don't let your age/size/gender/etc. tell you how fast or slow you're going to lose the weight. You might just be surprised. It seems to go that if you lost well in the past on LC, you'll do the same again.
Take hold and don't let go--it's a long haul, but you just look at the little bits at a time.
Best to you!

Thanks so much for all the responses. You are a friendly group and this is awesome. This is really the first time I have done an Induction. Previously, I simply counted carbs and at that time had "scale fear" so never weighed but knew I was dropping due to how the clothes fit. I recall how LC eating took away alot of aches and pains and gave me more energy. At that time when someone went LC everyone gasped in horror. Then about a year after I went off LC due to family pressure it was everywhere in the media. It was suddenly OK to go LC and products were being introduced. I have to get over and set up that journal for sure. I'm feeling very fine--a little tired which I think is a withdrawl from carbs.

My advice?
Don't count carbs this time - just avoid them! Well, better I suggest simply follow the plan for inductions.
Don't obsess over weight - though if you don't weigh yourself at least once now at the beginning, and do all the measurements, etc., you will be bummed in 30-45 days when everyone else is noticing the new you and you don't have the hard numbers to compare to!
When i started, I went 2-3 months before weighing myself - mainly because I didn't have a scale that went high enough. But I did do the measurements - and was so encouraged to see the results each month!
