Hi...
I have been low carbing for a week now, without cheating and have pink/purple ketostix since the second day! But no pounds lost!!
Any suggestions?? What could be wrong?
Thanks,
Susan

Hi Susan,
Have you taken your measurements before starting? It is more important than checking the weight. I'm much happier when I lose inches than pounds :) What plan are your following, and what are you eating. How about posting your daily menu, some items have hidden carbs and can prevent weight loss.

Hi..thanks for your reply...
Generally I have a 2 egg omlette with a few tablespoons of veggies in it (onion, pepper, mushroom) and a couple of tablespoons of grated cheddar. I have a midmorning protein snack (leftover meat, nuts, etc,..) and a salad with a protein (chicken or ham or egg). For dinner I eat a serving of beef or chicken and a vegetable (broccoli/asparagus) and another salad.
I have followed this diet before with great results...but for whatever reason it is'nt working!
I am not obsessive (except for the ketostix!) and I want to follow this as a lifestyle.
But I am so surprised that my clothes fit the same way and there has been no loss of pounds!
I do drink some coffee (2 cups a day) but that was never a problem before.
I guess I could increase my water intake...but I feel like lfloating away already!!
I'll keep plugging away...I am just really surprised!

Your menu looks fine. I still recommend taking measurements, the fit of your clothes is not as accurate, especially that it's been only a week. Generall people lose in the first 2 week if they have not been on any diet for a while (lowcarb, low-calories or low fat).
It's great that you're looking at it as a lifestyle, and the changes will come as long you stick to it. Keep us posted on your progress! :)

I agree with Wa'il, it's often more important to go by measurements than the scale. Sometimes your body loses fat, but might still be holding on to some water, and is also adding muscle -- both water and muscle take up less space than fat for the same weight.
In Protein Power, the Drs. Eades explain it this way : people who have been eating lowFAT for a long time will often gain a few pounds of lean muscle mass in the beginning, just because they are FINALLY eating adequate amounts of protein. In the meantime they are losing fat. So the scales will show no net loss, or possibly a small GAIN, which is only temporary. Exercising will also increase muscle weight, but burns fat.
Stick with it, I'm sure you'll see the inches and lbs coming off soon! Look forward to reading more posts of your success .. :)

Hey men I was searching for this quote. So it is possible. Look at my statistic, before strating Atkins (3 weeks ago) I did some stupid diet some kind of "magical" soup (difrent kinds of vegetables in it) for 7 days and lost this weight in my statistic. So today for me is day 6 of induction and no weight lose at all, but pink keto-stick all time. I think my body is confused again.
Thank you on this quote it is helping my mind.
Sorry on my bed english - I live in Europe, Croatia and start Atkin becouse Croatian Health Organisation public recently that Atkins diet is the best for health and weight loss.
