Hi,
starting over and harder to motiviate myself this second time around.
Any advice?
several years ago i lost 26 pounds on atkins and maintained it. But i've slipped and now at a higher weight than ever.
I began induction two days ago and lost 3.5 pounds, and while I did feel a little encouraged, I notice I'm not as enthusuiastic as last time.
I'm worried about this. I really have to talk myself into being enthusiastic. And it wasn't like this the last time.
i need help to beat this...

Hard to say. Last time, you might well have thought you were going to lose the weight and never be fat again--can't tell for sure by your post, but gaining 40 pounds to the highest weight ever is a bit more than a "slip" in my lexicon. This time around, you know differently. There is no magic bullet. LC works, but you still have to work at it, and then find a way to maintain it.
That's a bummer.
You're not the only person to reach that conclusion. I can't say that there is all that much to be enthusiastic about. Maintaining weight loss is kinda unexciting, and not exactly anything to talk about at lunch. OTOH, you could stay where you are... no law against being larger than you want to be, and it's a whole lot easier to do.
Generally, I "just" have to decide which side of that fence I want to be on, and then quit thinking about what's on the other side. Staying heavier is easy in some ways, but it has its own price.

Hi,
Yes, I guess I have to understand no magic bullet. I really appreciate your reply. And I want to be on the healthy side of the fence.
I really needed to get some wisdom, so thanks very very much for your reply.
I'll keep the faith.

Palma, the thing that really keeps me motivated is that I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I am MUCH healthier in this way of life. My emotional and mental state, not to mention physical state, is so much better when I low carb. I cannot stand the lack of energy and brain fogginess and bloating that comes with carbs and weight gain. I had so many more aches and pains when I was including bad carbs in my diet. This way of eating gives me clear skin, shiney hair, less creaky joints, fuller tummy, etc... than any other way of eating. It really is the best plan for me. Maybe you will start to see that too???
Good luck!!!

Hi,
I just got home from work and read your post, and it came just in time. I know all the things you've said to be true. And being reminded of that, is very encouraging and I really need that right now.
thanks so much
:)
