I have been running about 30mi a week on the treadmill and loving it and on Wednesday I injured my leg/knee by running in old running shoes. I took today off but I am grumpy and depressed. I dont know what to do?? I have also eaten way more then I should have today and yesterday... HELP. Should I just go back to the gym and see how my leg feels tommorow or should I give it another day of rest?

Some recommend working out around the injury. I'm not so sure

Do you have swelling or any discoloration?

I have a girl friend who is a jogger. She landed funny and thought that she may have torn a calf muscle.

She went to the doc and come to find out she had stress fracutred her tibia.

So watch it and look for any signs of swelling or water retention and use your own good judgement.

You'll be back on the road in no time.

Good luck

You can get your cardio fix sitting on a stationary bike or a rowing machine or swimming. Even better, an Aquajogger lets you work your leg muscles in a fashion most like running. I was injured a few weeks before a marathon. I spent an hour a day in the pool with my aquajogger and had one of my best marathon finish times even though I hadn't run a step for three weeks.

What about water aerobics or water walking? In my old neighborhood they offered it free at the local indoor pool.

Hope you feel better soon!

I have been using the elliptical and bike while I am healing.
