I bought some Progresso Low fat lentil soup, but the ingredients include modified corn starch as the last ingredient. Is this OK to eat? :yum:

Nope...not OK....sorry! and it probably has way too much sodium as most canned soups do.

Have you ever tried to make your own?

It has 500 mg in 1c serving. I guess I'll give it to my Mom. I haven't made lentil soup yet. I bought some green lentils a month ago and printed out some recipes. I have yet to make it. I just need to do it on a weekend when I'm not so busy. Do you have a good recipe?
I read some older posts with different breakfast ideas other than eggs. I've had eggs every morning for a month, so I tried a recipe I found on that post. It was unbelievable!!! It seemed illegal.
/2 c ricotta, 1/2 c 1% milk, 1 tsp cocoa powder, 3 splendas and ice--blended together. I added 1 tsp of natural pb. OMG!
I know I shouldn't feel guilty, but I do.:)

See? you found a breakfast that is legal and you loved it!! Good job!!

The only lentil soup I've made is from a bag of lentils that had a recipe on the bag. Keep in mind that lentils are very high in calories so a 1/3 cup is a portion although they are very filling.

You can also use the recipes in the Kitchen section here on this site and modify ingredients to make it a SBD friendly recipe ie: replace butter with Smart Balance and any full fat dairy for low fat.

SOunds good! I plan on making soup this weekend and maybe a crock-pot meal too- leftovers are always appreciated.

I can't remember reading if there are any specific guidelines for the amount of fat to be eaten in a day. Everything I eat is low or reduced fat, but I want to make sure that I don't eat too much fat. Any insight into this?

Look at the Meal Plan guide as it show you how to use fat in your plan.

I looked it over. I don't want to use fat, I just want to know if I need to keep track of how many grams of fat I eat.

I haven't kept track of grams as I use the meal plan guide to tell me what I need to do. Below is our list of allowable fats. Notice that avocado is considered a fat serving as are olives.

Each time you see to have a fat on the meal plan guide, you get to pick which one you use. :)

FATS/OILS

The following monounsaturated oils are recommended to be consumed daily:
Oil, canola
Oil, olive
Other Oil Choices that may be chosen (Polyunsaturated or a blend of Monounsaturated):
Corn
Enova
Flax
Grapeseed
Peanut
Safflower
Sesame
Soybean
Sunflower
Other Fat Choices:
