Here I am, finally ready to get this body toned!
Friday, I went to a 45-minute water aerobics class called Ak-wa-fit, which is described as a "hi-lo aerobics class in shallow water". I'm not sure where the "hi" comes in. I certainly didn't feel it. I think I was the only person without gray hair and a perm.
Saturday, I went to aqua combo, a "high energy class incorporating both deep and/or shallow water exercises". I loved it! It had great ab and arm exercises. No seniors there. The next aqua combo class is Monday morning.
There's a yoga class at 5... I'd like to go. We'll see if I actually do.

I didn't go to the gym yesterday as I'd intended. I went today, though. I did 30 minutes of an elliptical type thing. It's actually more like a cross between a stair climber and an elliptical. My P.L.A.N. says I burned 291 calories, which is total crap because it doesn't even know how fast I was going! The machine said I burned around 175, which is also total crap because it doesn't factor in the heart rate. In the end, I don't care how many calories I burned. The point is, I got some exercise in.
I'm not in a good mood. Is it obvious?

Yesterday (Thursday) I went to a new water aerobics class. This one was definitely not challenging enough. It's still better than nothing, though. Actually, it incorporates some muscle-toning exercises towards the end. It's not enough, though.
I guess I'll just go to aqua combo, the "high energy" in deep water, as often as I can, and substitute other things for the other classes. Aqua combo is 3 or 4 times a week, so it should work out well.
My doctor finally signed the forms to allow me to get a personal trainer, so I'll be doing that soon. I really want to focus on weights with the trainer. After all, I know how to stair climb and walk on the treadmill.

For the record, I haven't been inactive. I'm actually much more active than before. The activities just aren't easily quantifiable. :p I have been in my pool a lot, sometimes doing cardio and sometimes working on my arms and legs with the water weights I bought. Mostly, I just tinker around in the pool and toss the beach ball back and forth. I've been playing a lot of ping pong. Up to an hour, sometimes. It's fun. :) I'm walking more, if only through the parking lot or around the mall.
As for structured exercise, there's...ah...nothing. I commit to trying out my pilates book today for...let's say at least 5 different exercises, with as many reps as the book dictates.
Oh! I'm going to buy a mini-trampoline today. I saw one at Walmart for $20. I'll use that today too.

I just did the introductory section of my pilates book, which consists of 7 exercises. Whew! It really works out the core.
Next assignment: get mini trampoline.
TimesTwo
Tue, Jun-05-07, 16:32
I got the mini trampoline, a Walk Away the Pounds DVD (1 mile and 2 miles), and 3-lb hand weights. I also need to get a resistance band for WATP.
I just tried to assemble the trampoline, but I couldn't. It's folded into fourths and springs shut. I'll open it with my mom later.

Wed, Jun-06-07, 14:46
We got the trampoline assembled. Today I'll either jog in place on it with hand weights, or I'll WATP with hand weights.

Whew! Just finished the 15 minute one mile WATP. It was easy to do, but I didn't expect to break a sweat! I certainly did. I used my 3 pound weights the entire time, and I also used them instead of the resistance band.

Fri, Jun-15-07, 06:45
I couldn't sleep so I just did all of the introductory exercises in my pilates book, for the number of reps they recommended. It took about 25 minutes, including my consulting the book for each exercise. I'll count it as 15 minutes in My P.L.A.N.
I love how nice and tall I sit after I've done pilates.
I'll do WATP today as well. Right now I'm going to try to sleep.

Wed, Jul-04-07, 18:10
Today I did the 2 mile brisk walk Walk Away the Pounds DVD for the first time. I made my shirt wet! I used my 3 pound weights instead of the resistance band, but I didn't walk with them.

I went ice skating yesterday for the second time ever! I actually skated this time. I did several laps only touching the wall a few times, and 7 or 8 laps without touching anything.
I'm going to go more often! It's cheap, fun, and My P.L.A.N. says I burned 177 calories in 25 minutes.

Since the last post I've gone bowling twice and ice skating once more.
Today (Thursday) I did arm exercises in the pool with my water dumbbells.

Just finished the 3 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD with hand weights instead of the stretchie band for arm exercises. I feel super good!
It was my first time doing the 3 mile. I found it at the library and ripped it to my computer. I'm going to see what other WATP DVDs they have.
TimesTwo
Wed, Aug-29-07, 21:23
I'm feeling down so I thought exercising might help. I talked myself into it by settling for the WATP 1 mile easy walk, with the stretchie band instead of the hand weights.
I still feel the same, but I'm glad I got at least some exercise in.
TimesTwo
Sat, Sep-01-07, 10:03
Thursday I did the 2 mile WATP video, part of it with weights, and part of it with the stretchie band.
Yesterday I was at my dad's and was going to do the 1 mile WATP video but the computer won't play the DVD without downloading an add-on. Instead I did jumping jacks, I jogged in place, and I did WATP exercises, some with the stretchie band. I worked up a sweat. I'm not sure how long I did it for...so I don't know how to log it in My P.L.A.N.

I did the 1 mile WATP video today. I really did not want to do it. I remembered just as I was getting ready to settle in for the night. The CHOHW challenge (http://forums.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=346837&page=1&pp=30) has been absolutely monumental in motivating me to exercise every day this week.
ETA: I forgot to add that I also did the 1 mile WATP on Tuesday as well.

To clarify, yesterday I did the 15 minute pilates introduction. It just goes through the basic steps.
Today, I did the actual 15 minute pilates workout. Holy crap, it's definitely a workout. I hate it. I HATE IT! IRL I would use expletives to describe how much I hate it.
Ugh. I'll keep doing it though. It's beneficial.

Hmm. I did Denise Austin's Hit the Spot Pilates. I chose the 10 minute core and 10 minute hips segments. I think next time I'll do the intermediate abs segment and a different lower body segment.
I was hoping I'd feel the burn in my abs, but I don't. I did work up a sweat though.

Tuesday's exercise was the 15 minute pilates challenge on the Hit the Spot Pilates DVD. It's mat pilates done standing up.
HOLY CRAP.
That was a good workout. I can feel it in my glutes, quads, and hamstrings when I walk. The ab workout was decent, but they don't feel sore right now. :-/ I like that enduring soreness. I worked up a generous sweat, though.
Tomorrow I'll try the Pilates Abs Workout DVD or the bellydancing.

My abs and the outer parts of my glutes are sore today. :) I love that.
I guess I'll do the bellydance video today. It's kind of tricky. I'm not very good at following quick dance/aerobics moves.
ETA: I did three segments of the video which took 28 minutes: the warm up, cardio belly blast, and core weights. The first segment was mostly stretches. The second was cardio. The third was very light strength training. How am I supposed to add this to My P.L.A.N.? :-/

Holy cow. The last post was literally the last time I exercised. :daze: Yesterday was my first step back into the groove of working out. I did a 30 minute DVD called "Yoga Buns". It was more like pilates for my butt. Surprisingly, Denise Austin wasn't too annoying in the video. My glutes are sore and I really broke a sweat. That's good.
Today I'm either going to do a Leslie Sansone walking DVD or a Denise Austin pilates DVD.
I've been happily maintaining for the past year. It's time to get to goal-- 106-110.
TimesTwo

Tomorrow I'll do the pilates DVD. (Not the butt DVD. It needs a rest.)
