I'm using the My Plan tool on here to track food and was having a stir fry with bean sprouts, but can't seem to find them anywhere on there. Dumb question, but does anyone know if they are called something else on there? Or maybe know where I could find the value for them?

Hi Charran,

Over on fitday.com 1 cup raw bean sprouts (soy or mung beans) has:

* 6.17 g of carbs
* 1.87 g of fiber
* 31.2 kcals ("calories")

I think the food values function on fitday is very useful.

Thanks hk...so are you saying that bean sprouts are also called mung beans or soy beans?

Charran, you can find them canned in the Chinese section in the grocery store. I think they are just called Bean Sprouts but can also be called mung beans.

I heat these up and use spaghetti sauce on them when I have the spaghetti munchies. :lol:

Hope this helps.

Some bean sprouts are sprouted from mung beans.

Others from soy beans

Pea sprouts are also delicious stir fried

Oh dear, I better stop, because I'm hungry now & it's an hour 'til lunch.

Thanks hk...I learn something new everyday! The ones I had were the ones sprouted from mung beans. I never knew that! I've never seen pea sprouts here though, but then again, I never knew there was such a thing.

My mom used to sprout alfalfa sprouts at home (I always thought it was so cool watching them grow in the jar with the nylon stretched over the mouth). We'd eat them on sprout sandwiches: sprouts, avocado slices, and tomato with mayo. YUM!!!! I suppose I could still have that, minus the bread...
