Hi everyone! I've been "lurking" for a few days, but decided I really NEED the support that this group gave me "the first time".

Long story short... I got "lax" around Christmas, and have just not MADE myself "get clean" since then. But that has CHANGED.... I've been doing Phase 1 for a week... 1 more to go for sure... maybe 2. Today I finally feel "better" and have that Energy surge... yea! I think I am "lucky" and only gained about 10 pounds from my "lax-ness". I am sure that is because I've been pretty good about exercising at least 4 days a week since Mid-October.

Anyway... I re-read the book. And got my house cleaned out of all the "junk" Isn't AMAZING how fast that stuff can "take over" your cabinets... and mine wasn't all that junky of junk.... it was stuff like wheat thins, and granola, and pasta!!! I still haven't bought "Real sugar" in almost a year! In fact someone asked me for some sugar for their coffee, and I said, well i have spenda, and some sweet-n-low... they said, "no' i'd prefer "real sugar" " So I looked in my canister.... it was ROCK HARD... the about 1/2 cup that was there! LOL

I am going to go re-look at some posts, and do some reading on here later tonight/tomorrow sometime. HOWEVER, Right now my biggest "challenge" seems to be snacks. So if anyone has some GREAT PHASE ONE snack ideas... Remind me!

Finally Here is the past 3 or so day's of my menus.... critique away.......I want to make sure im doing this RIGHT! THANKS!!!!!!!!! SO GOOD TO BE BACK, and really taking care of myself again!!!

Today I've had:
B: Egg Casserole (eggs, sausage, green pepper, onion, mushroom, and cheese) It's from a recipe from this site...
S: 10 almonds
L: 2 slices leftover roast beef, cucumber slices w/salt and pepper on them.
S: 1 hard boiled egg
D: (haven't had it yet, but this is what I am going to have) grilled 93% lean hamburger, grilled zucchini, and a big salad (inc: mushrooms, onion, cucumber, egg, and red cabbage plus the lettuce) and 2 T ranch dressing.

Yesterday I had:
B: Egg Casserole (same as above)
S: 10 almonds
L: Turkey and cheese wraps, radishes, and cucumbers
S: 10 almonds (I know too many nuts in 1 day, but the plain yogurt i took to school FOR my snack, I noticed DOES have sugar.... I grabbed the wrong kind, glad it was only 3, and this was the first one i was going to eat!)
D: Grilled Chicken on salad (see my salad for tonight, same salad, but also had some cheese on it)
D: 1/2 c. sf chocolate pudding (is this ok on P1??? and what about the sf fudgesticks???)

Thursday:
B: 2 hardboiled eggs, 2 slices bacon
S: didn't get one.
L: Turkey and cheese wraps, radishes and cucumbers
S: 10 almonds
D: Grilled chicken, steamed asparagus, salad
D: 1/2 c. sf chocolate pudding.

SUGGESTIONS/IDEAS/Critiques PLEASE!!!! THANKS SO SO SO VERY MUCh!

Welcome Back Camelle!!

Good job and getting back to it...it can be a struggle when we allow ourselves to go backwards for any length of time. My hope for you is that there will be no more "going back" ;)

Your menus look good....other than the sausage....what kind was it as sausages can have a lot of fillers and way too much FAT!!!

Here are some of my ideas for phase I snacks:
1- hard boiled egg
2- 1 oz piece of low fat cheese( i like the reduced fat jarlsberg)
3- peanut butter on celery
4- hummus on celery
5- cottage cheese w/ tomatoes
6- any left over protein and a veggie
7- Laughing cow lt cheese on celery
8- lt cream cheese on celery

Hope some of these ideas are a help to you. :D

thanks!!!! the sausage is really a very lean one, it is from a local butcher, and is ground pork, and seasonings. When I browned it in the pan, there was no fat to even "drain off' so I think it is pretty lean. And I used 3/4 pound for an entire egg casserole (that I cut into 6 pieces and then froze individually so I have quick breakfasts. the lack of having breakfast is part of my cause for backsliding!)

It's good to recognize where your downfalls are and then have a plan to combat them. Mine is snacks in the evening. I'm fine all during the day, but from about 8-11...watch out! I have to have something planned out for that time or I"m asking for trouble!

Glad you are back and ready for a new beginning. We all back - slide, but the real test is if we pick ourselves up and move forward. You have accomplished that! Good luck.

Hi,

Welcome back. I've been around and about since mid-January. As you know, this is a great group - very encouraging & w/ lots of information.

My only suggestion/critique (and I'm still so new that I hesitate to say) is that your menus look a bit light on vegetables, at least brekkie & lunch.

I try to get in at least 2 cups of cooked veggies in the morning & also a lot for lunch.

Try to eat more of the *powerful greens*: brocolli; kale; beet greens; spinach, etc. Even addding cabbage can be good.

I like a big breakfast (because I'm not very fond of mid-morning snack). So a breakfast of left-over broc or kale from the night before w/ my eggs and some cheese melted on top really sets me up for the day. I will often add a small tomato cut up in it as well.

Hello Camelle... How nice to see your smiley avatar again. :)

It's so easy to get sidetracked when a lot's going on, but I know you can do this.

Good Luck!! I am pretty new. I had to start Phase 1 3 times, before I could get it right. Both previous weeks, there was one day during the week that I was in a social situation and I drank wine. So, I would start again... Finally I was able to get thru a week w/o screwing up and I lost 6 lbs. I am so happy!!! Today starts week 2 of Phase 1. I am feeling very motivated. THis is GREAT!
