I have been told by a few people to stay away from L/C foods which have been a staple in my diet. I have been having Atkins shakes for brkfst and L/C tortillas sometimes. I know people say that these L/C processed foods are bad, but what does that mean? They say they are L/C and will have a low impact on my blood sugar so that seems good to me. Is it all a sham? These convenience foods really fit my busy schedule. Thanks in advance... :)

Did you intend to post this in the South Beach forum?
Just curious as your plan says Atkins.....
Now...onto your question. Please look at the words under my name up top...it says..Whole and Fresh is Best.....this is what South Beach is all about....whole fresh and as unprocessed as possible...its just healthier for us to not eat packaged foods, even if they are "low carb"
Being that SBd is not technically a low carb plan, we do pay more attention to the Glycemic Index of carb foods...lower is always better.
While I understand that they are convenient and easy....once in a while in an emergency is not an issue...but for your daily food, I'd stick with fresh food as much as possible.
Getting organized in the kitchen is a big deal. Each week I cook up 2 lbs of chicken or turkey breasts cutlets or tenders to have as an easy meal or snack...also I always have hard boiled eggs in the fridge. I keep ind cans of tuna and salmon on hand for quick and easy salads.
I cook up a big pot of turkey chili and have 6 meals that I freeze for later use.
There are many things that you can do to make eating this way easier on yourself. Staying away from highly processed packaged foods is the right thing to do. :agree:
