Hi,
I am unsure about how to read labels,
I know you cant have sugar, flour etc.
I am going to go to a health food store 2moro, to see if I can get low carb bread or tortilla's.
Is there any advice you can give me, as unsure.
I lent my book to a friend, I guess I should have paid more attention right!!!
thanks for your help

well bread and those bake mixes really depend on what phase you are in atkins.
I'd get the book back asap so that you can refersh your memory and get off to a good and successful start!

you and I have similar goals, stats, Lian!
I'm OWL too, but avoiding bread (accept the microwave flax bread every once in a while). I have a hard time controlling my consumption.
oh, and the DANDR I have, he's actually got a nutrition label all broken down so that you can see what everything means.
It bugs me that the labels aren't more accurate. I don't think they should be able to say "0 carbs" if there are NOT 0 carbs!

Hi Lynn,
yes we do kinda have the same stats, I think I would like to get down to about 130 as well now.......
I am about 5.6....
When first started diet early march, I was about 180.
by the way what does DANDR mean.
I hear ya about the labels, I am finding it all quite confusing.
Have a good night.

when you say you're unsure about how to read the lables, what exactly confuses you? it gives you the total carbohydrate count, and breaks it down into sugar, fiber, and sugar alcohol if there's any in there. what you do is take the total carb count and subtract the grams of fiber... that'll give you the net carbs.
hope that helps!

ok think I might have it,
looking at a label now
this label says
carbs 17g
fibre 3g
sugar10g
so I would take fibre away, making this product 14g right....
do I make sure the products I buy dont have sugar content in it?
sorry if I sound confused, I really appreciate your help.....
thank you

i would say yes, stay away from something that has 10 g of sugar per serving.
