I'm new to the whole low carb-ing process. I've been at it since last monday, and yes, I did cheat a little on the weekend, but I found that even though I did eat things I shouldn't have, I have picked up on portion control (which I very much needed). I've found that my energy level is already up, and even when I'm sick, I just want to go and be active.
I've been overweight my entire life, I've never been able to experience being "thin" or even healthy, for that matter. I've spent my entire teens trying different ways to lose weight, diets, exercizing until I hurt (then gave up), starving myself (it didn't work, instead made me pig out when I failed). So, this time I decided to do a LOT of research before I started anything, and it brought me a place called "Curves for Women" which is a gym you may have heard of.
I've been kind of eye-ing this forum, and I must say..it looks like it could be a very valuable asset to succeed. My goal is to get down to at least 130 lbs (I'm 18, and 5'3, so to me that would be a reasonable weight). I want to achieve this definitely by May '08, because my brother is getting married, and I am a bridesmaid. The last time I was a bridesmaid, there were a lot of pictures taken, and every time I see them, I cringe. I don't want to feel that way about my brother's wedding pictures.
So, here's to losing about 100 lbs in a little over a year! Wish me luck :)

Hi MissLess and welcome to TDC!!
I know you'll find lots of great ideas and encouragment here. Have you checked out MY PLAN yet? See it in the upper righthand side of the green bar near the top of your screen. It's a wonderful tool to keep track of what works and what doesn't work for you. It'll also track measurements, exercise and everything else related to weightloss and health!
I did cheat a little on the weekend, but I found that even though I did eat things I shouldn't have, I have picked up on portion control (which I very much needed). I don't want to be negative, but I also want you to succeed with your goal. So be sure to pick up a book by Dr Atkins. In it he explains how a 'cheat' can take 4 or more days to undo on LC WOL. Amazon has the book on sale for one penny...can't beat that price :D If you're going to do LC you'll need to read it IMO. DANDR for a penny (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/006001203X/ref=dp_olp_2/102-6198672-1421756)
Good luck for a successful journy this year!!!

I have found MY PLAN, and I've been slowly figuring out how to use it. I think it's awesome, and I will be purchasing the book..and for one cent, I'm definitely going to!
I hate that it's easter..horrible timing to start changing eating habits! Haha.
Thanks for the welcome :)

Thanks for the welcome :) Oh! I hope that you don't think that I was saying to give up on Curves and start Atkins, I didn't mean to come across like that, sorry.
I was suggesting that you buy the Atkins book because even tho you're on the Curves LC plan, he explains what makes LC work. That way you'll have a better handle on why things are happening and what you can do to have control over the stalls, bumps in the road etc. I figured if they didn't tell you that a 'cheat' can take 4+ days to get over, then you would benefit from the weath of information in his book.
It took me a while to figure things out in My PLAN, too. But I love how it keeps track of everything for me, I find it's much more comprehensive than Fitday. Plus with a click of a button it transfers the data to your journal if you want to track it there, too.
Best wishes to you MissLiss!!

Oh, don't worry. I didn't take it like that at all. I know that I can use all the information I could get, and I was actually trying to see if there was a book around here..but didn't know the names of any of them. So you were helpful, don't worry!

Welcome MissLiss...
How wonderful that you've found us...and Curves! I love my curves (which I also need to get my ample booty to again since I've been too lazy).
How smart of you to do the research this time instead of jumping on the latest fad diet. Done the fads more times than I can count and found that lc'ing is the only thing that really works (for me).
Good luck to you on your journey!

I usually do just jump onto the latest fad. Then I heard about LC'ing and that it worked for some people..so I researched for a while and decided to give it a shot. The first couple days I did it, it was so hard! I'm used to drinking at least 3 cups of milk a day, and snacking on anything I found in the fridge or cupboard. Now, I'm not even two weeks in and I'm not even tempted to look in the cupboard (even though I know there's a box of my favourite cookies). I'm full of energy and I've already lost an inch off my hips, waist, and chest. :D
