I seem to have a 2 tummy thing going on. No matter how much weight I lose my upper tummy does not seem to go down. My tummy is basically flat under my belly button but above my belly button it makes me look like I'm still pregnant. Does anyone have any advice? :help:

There is no such thing as upper and lower abs! If you set your mind against that ridiculous notion and work the abs as a whole then you will see results.

First how low is your body fat?

the crunch on a swissball, hanging leg raises, russian twists, Yanda situps and reverse crunches are a great way to harden up the abs.

Lifting heavy weights like deadlifting and squatting, especially front squats will also harden the abs.

do not waste(pun) your time on regular sit ups or crunches

As long as you have fat around your tummy, your abs will not show. They will develop, but you will not be able to see them under the fat, so you must lose more weight in order to see them. Some people, no matter what they do, they cant get their abs to look like Madonna's, its just not in the cards. This is because you cannot pinpoint fat loss, your body will do what it wants to do and if it chooses to keep the fat on your tummy, you cant really do anything about it, except surgery. Personnally, I prefer crunches. They work for me, last year, my abs looked like they belonged on a ephedra commercial! As I lose and do my crunches (I do 200 crunches 2-3 times a week), I can feel my abs under the fat, and I can see them developing. By June, I hope to have that beach bod back!

Thanks for you replies. And I don't expect to have a completely flat tummy. I'd just like to be able to see my toes instead of my gut when I look down. :)

Visble abs have far more to do with diet than workouts. By all means work your abs (especially by keeping them tight while doing large lifts like squat and deadlift) but concentrate on your diet.
