i finally went and got the whole work up urine test and full blood test for diabetis, the only thing they came up with is that Im sverely anemicI have to take iron pills and multivitamin- I suspect the anemia he said I had had for years comes from my all junk food sweets diet I use to be on before I started dieting.
But no not a drop of diabetis, im not even borderline.Of course I know Im still a prime target for diabetis and need to be on a weight Watchers diet or some kind of plan. BTW Ive los 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks which is good, but I do think I still need to be on a plan of some sort.
I had some questions about diabetis.My sisters and many other people have kept telling me to get checked for it, and many people have told me I probably have it, i was so convinced when I walked into the docters office, I was thinking hes gonna tell me Im diabetic.With so many people so sure that I had it I wondering about something.
What are the statistics for people like me to get it. alot of people said-your obese and addicted to sugar you have to have it. Does being obese and an addiction to sugar autimatically ake you diabetic? what are statitistics for someone in my position to get it. If all obese people with an addiction to cokes and sugar get it then why didn't I get it?
That being said I am fully aware that im still a prime target for diabetis and its important for me to get on an eating plan now so I can hopfully prevent it from happening, does anyone have statistics on this? Just curious.

* Had diabetes during pregnancy
If you are at risk for developing diabetes, be alert to the sudden appearance of symptoms:
* Feeling tired
* Blurred vision
* Dry, itchy skin
* Extreme weakness and/or tiredness
* Increased and extreme hunger and thirst
* Increased and frequent urination
* Rapid weight loss

Total Prevalence of Diabetes &
Pre-diabetes
Total: 20.8 million children and adults -- 7.0% of the population -- have diabetes.
Diagnosed: 14.6 million people
Undiagnosed: 6.2 million people
Pre-diabetes: 54 million people
1.5 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 years or older in 2005.
Total prevalence of diabetes
Under 20 years of age: 176,500, or 0.22% of all people in this age group have diabetes. About one in every 400 to 600 children and adolescents has type 1 diabetes.
Two (2) million adolescents (or 1 in 6 overweight adolescents) aged 12-19 have pre-diabetes.
Although type 2 diabetes can occur in youth, the nationally representative data that would be needed to monitor diabetes trends in youth by type are not available. Clinically-based reports and regional studies suggest that type 2 diabetes, although still rare, is being diagnosed more frequently in children and adolescents, particularly in American Indians, African Americans, and Hispanic/Latino Americans.
Age 20 years or older: 20.6 million, or 9.6% of all people in this age group have diabetes.
Age 60 years or older: 10.3 million, or 20.9% of all people in this age group have diabetes.
Men: 10.9 million, or 10.5% of all men aged 20 years or older have diabetes although nearly one third of them do not know it.
Women: 9.7 million, or 8.8% of all women aged 20 years or older have diabetes although nearly one third of them do not know it. The prevalence of diabetes is at least 2 to 4 times higher among non-Hispanic Black, Hispanic/Latino American, American Indian, and Asian/Pacific Islander women than among non-Hispanic white women.

This is another evidence that obesity and sugar addiction is not automatically means diabetes, many non-obese have it, so not only weight and diet to blame. it takes something else for the desease to settle.

txfemale,
I doubt that you will ever get it, despite your weight and sugar addiction. But keep your eye on your fasting blood glucose, once a year physical, your picture can change rapidly especially when you will approach menopause.

Boy Dina957 you are so right about that. I'm in my fifty's and it was in a one year span of being hypoglycemic (this for 2.5 decades) to prediabetes. http://bestsmileys.com/zapped/4.gif I, like millions of other people didn't have symptoms. (other than being a carbaholic, too.) I agree with dina1957, It's always good idea to have annual bloodwork done.
