Hi everyone,
I am new here. Thought I would introduce myself. I started my weight loss journey 3 weeks ago. I have lost 6 pounds so far. I want to lose 150 pounds which is rather overwhelming to think about. I was happy to find this group and join others who are in this for "the long haul".

I live in Maine. I am 54 years old, I am married and I have been caring for my mother full time for the past 6 years. She is in stage 6 of Alzheimer's. Needless to say, my life is very stressful. I am grateful to have found a weightloss program that seems to be working for me and which is providing me with a sense of stability and sanity during this difficult time in my life.

I am following a moderately high protein, moderately low carb plan, more or less of my own design. So far, so good. I bought the FitDay software and have found it very helpful in tracking my calories as well as my carb, protein, and fat grams.

I look forward to walking this path with all of you.

Sincerely,
Cathy B.

Hi Cathy, Welcome to the TDC! You will find a lot of support here. Congrats on getting started and your success so far.

What a great thing you are doing in taking care of your mother. That must be hard for you, but rewarding too. :bhug:

I use Fitday PC off & on. At first I was using it to record everything, but these days I just record my weight in it. I love seeing the weight log predictions. I'm hoping that this time around I won't have to track the food I eat in it, but it really helped to do that the first time around.

Good luck in your journey!

Hi Cathy...Welcome to the TDC. I know that thinking about losing a large amount of weight can feel very overwhelming. When I started, I didn't think about the whole picture. I thought about little steps and if someone had of told me that I would be half way to goal right now, I don't think I would have believed them, yet here I am. It hasn't always been easy and it's definetely not been fast, but with the support of this forum, I have stuck it out. I wish you all the best!

ita what they said. i started this journey with a 180 to lose..i really can't focus on that since that goal is way to big for me. i focus only on the next pant size down. when i started in october i was a 28 1/2 and now i'm a 22 with 30 percent of my weight loss gone.

before doing atkins this time around i've never stuck to anything longer than 3 months. i truly owe it to the members here with the great support they give, and information, to keep me going for over 5 1/2 months now.

i'm sorry to hear about your mother and the strain it must be to take care of her and to see her in that condition. i give you so much credit to be wanting to take care of yourself at the same time...what an awesome choice you made, i'm rooting for you!!!

Congratulations on your new pant's size you are doing great!!! Stacy that's such a good idea about looking at the goal as smaller chunks or steps. I set my first goal as getting under 200 and I've been feeling bad about 'only' losing a pound or two. I need to rethink my goals. Thanks.
