I have been a non-smoker since Jan 2006, HOWEVER, I am addicted to nicotine gum! (wow! this is the first time I've admitted this...even to myself)

I need to get off this stuff, I really don't get the nicotine rush from it because I can and do chew SF gum alot too. I think it is something to put in my mouth! And it's become my new 'habit', if that makes sense.

Anyway, the box states it has sorbitol (the second to last ingredient...so I don't know how much is in there). I'm wondering if anyone has been able to confirm a "stall" in weight loss due to the sorbitol in this gum?? Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol, correct?

I'm having a hard time losing weight this time around w/ Atkins. I did Atkins a few years ago and lost 10 pounds. Of course, I gained the 10 pds back from quitting smoking! Ironically, I tell myself I chew the gum to keep the weight off (so I don't eat) but I think this gum is what is keeping the wieght on!! Anyone else have this problem, or heard of such a thing??

Julie, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone stalling from using nicotine gum. Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol and some people metabolize them better than others. According to this link (http://www.nicorette.com/Faqs.aspx#13) each piece of Nicorette gum has 3 calories and less than 1 gram of carb. If it were me, I'd count each piece as 1 gram of carb.
That said, the makers of Nicorette do not recommend that anyone use their product for longer than 12 weeks, so you are probably wise in wanting to stop at this point. :)

yep! you're right Lisa, not intended for longer than 12 weeks. I've been chewing regular SF gum for the past 3 days, I have 1-2 peices of nicotine gum a day, I have 6 left, when their done...I'm done.

Now I fear I'll become addicted to SF gum!

Now I fear I'll become addicted to SF gum!
Get a tongue piercing, that'll fix that right up!!

You'll have enough gum sticking to the ball and causing strings of the stuff to get caught in your mouth that you wont ever touch gum again! :P ahahaha true!
