I restarted low-carbing last week and decided to look for a forum to read for inspiration, and so I've been reading here all morning - oops! I should be working!! But I just feel so comfortable and at home here, so I hope you don't mind if I join in even though i don't STILL have over 100 lbs to lose.

I started at 280, actually more, but it was 280 when I went on atkins several years ago, and lost 59 pounds. I remember how long I was at losing 59 and was waiting for that next pound!!

Then a lot of life challenges hit me at about the same time and I've been trying to keep my head above water ever since. I'm lucky (?) that the stress and craziness have kept most of that weight off. And surprised. Here I am at 227. My original goal was 140 - but only because it was half of my start goal. 180, a hundred pounds less, would be awesome - so one of the things I get to decide is a new goal.

I've tried many times to restart. This time will be different - and now that I've found this board, I know I will have much support, motivation, example and inspiration - which I need.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to stop thinking about what I did before and focus on doing induction exactly as the book says. Well, except for coffee - cutting back slowly, rather than all at once - that does eliminate the withdrawl headaches, and the next week will be uncomfortable enough. Anyway I never did give up coffee completely, and it didn't seem to affect the results. But no harm in a coffee vacation now.

Back to my reading. There is so much information here that by the time I've caught up, I may well have reached my goal weight  whatever that is.

Hi and thanks to all!

Welcome to the forums. And congratulations on maintaining through the craziness. That isn't always easy to do, so yay for you!

I drink coffee too and haven't had a problem with it, either.

Good luck!

Thank you for the kind welcome!

Of course, yesterday was the day I was going to begin with a bang. I had all my food planned and so on. Then I went over to my daughter's to help out (baby is 10 days old!) and she had kindly made pizza for us from scratch. Wonderful of her, but not what I planned.

I had pizza tops and then we took baby for a long walk - beautiful warm afternoon - all good.

TODAY I start with a bang. And I'm grateful for the reminder that this is real life and there will be lots of interesting eating challenges.

Welcome to the forum, you obviously have done well in the past, I expect you will do well in the future.

If you haven't tried the DDPQ (deep dish pizza quiche in the main dish section of the forum) I recommend you do....MY granddaughter 3 years old walked into the house yesterday, and that is the first thing she wanted after a kiss from grandma-ma!

good luck, If you need help, gimme a yell!

Hi again and thanks for the extended welcome!

Ouch, i had a bad couple of days - I DID start lowcarbing last week - but it still caught me by surprise. I'm reminded why it's called the Atkins Flu. Awful.

Feeling better now. I would have killed someone for a box of crackers!

Onward. I'm really hungry for those steaks in the fridge that I haven't been able to eat.
