When I was about 20 yrs old, I suffered from a bit of ednos. Now, I'm 234 lbs, and I seriously need to lose some weight. I find myself thinking non-stop about counting carbs, food, and terrified to eat or drink anything until I know what is in it.I went to the doctor last month, and weighed in at 242. I weighed myself this morning, and I weigh 234. That's an 8lb loss(depending if my doctors scale is with mine, i think it's a couple lbs off) So, I'm sorta depressed about that. I go to bed worried if I had to many carbs, and wake up terrified that I'll have to many carbs. I think it's normal, but at the same time...I feel like it is controlling my life.I love the feeling I have knowing I lost at least 4-5lbs. I just bought this scale today.
So I decided that I'm going on a meat & egg fast, and only drinking water/and water added drinks such as s/f kool-aid and things in that area. I don't want to stall, and I don't want a huge disappointment. I keep my goals fairly reasonable!....Does anyone have this same problem?

Be careful with that kind of eating. You'll need to take a fiber supplement, a good multiple vitamin and potassium. Don't do it for more then a day or two.
I don't know which plan you are following, but maybe it would just be best if you could find some safe veggies to keep on hand. I find it easiest to limit my food choices so that I know exactly what I can eat and don't worry about counting carbs. For me those foods are lean meats and angus beef (which is not lean), lettuce, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower and some eggplant.
You really shouldn't be loosing sleep over the counting of carbs. Have you ever heard of Lean for Life? It is very low carb. like Atkins, but some fruit is allowed. A few years ago I did Atkins for a few months and then switched to LFL. I actually lost more each week (about 3.5 pounds) on LFL where as on Atkins I piddled along after 8 weeks. LFL doesn't focus so much on counting carbs because the distribution of allowed foods does that for you.

Not for nothing, but 8 pounds in a month is 96 pounds in a year.
So what's the problem?

I really don't think that's normal..............not to that extreme anyways.
Did you read the book? It seems to me your fears would subside a little bit if you were more knowledgeable about food and how many carbs are in certain foods.
Also, you say you keep your goals reasonable, but looking at your signature, I would have to respectfully disagree. You plan on dropping 35 pounds in one month? That is not impossible, but it's not a realistic target either. Maybe if you were a 400 pound man, but you are not carrying THAT much extra weight to expect to drop 35 pounds in a month.
Also, Atkins is supposed to be a lifetime plan, can you really spend the rest of your life being controlled by a diet? I am reading that instead of making Atkins a PART of your life you are making Atkins ALL of your life. That's a sure fire way to fail.
You should plan a menu for the entire week, go to the store, and prepare all of the food you brought. Use fitday to count the carbs. That way you'll know days in advance how many carbs you had, and how many you will be having, and you'll know what carbs are in the foods you are eating. It should elevate some of the pressure.

By EDNOS, you are saying you had an unspecified eating disorder in your 20s, right? I think this is a red flag for you that you are terrified of eating carbs at this point.
I would absolutely NOT recommend that you do meat and egg, you need to find a way of eating that is not temporary and faddish, you need to find something that is do-able in the long term and will promote a feeling of balance & health in your life instead of fear and deprivation.
I would work on doing Atkins (seeing as that is your listed diet) properly and learn to feel okay with the carbs that you can have on Atkins rather than feed any ED feelings you might be having by doing meat & egg.

Well include me in because I have to totally agree with the ladies comments above because they definitely know what they are talking about.
I can understand your excitement though in wanting it off as fast as possible. Heck! I still want it off as fast as possible, but not at the expense of my health.
I did not eat many veggies at all when beginning and I had a low-carb member or two get on me about it and I'm glad they did. Funny thing is now I actually CRAVE veggies. I can't get enough asparagus, baby spinach, cabbage, and romaine lettuce; my favorites. However, before I was a bit stubborn and didn't want to eat veggies and it wasn't good 'cause you will end up getting constipated especially if you don't add some fiber to the mix. I was still stubborn though - I figured I'd outsmart them all and just add some FiberSure to take care of the missing veggies, but I still don't think that quite hit it as I didn't become regular until I listened and ate my veggies. So yeah, anyway, if you decide to do the meat and egg thing...which I tell myself I will do sometimes when I get that excited feeling, but then it never last because meat and eggs only is TOTALLY boring and I always end up eating veggies to the mix. Honestly, I can only go one meal without veggies now and that's if I have boiled eggs for breakfast or an egg salad, by the time lunch or dinner rollls around I really want my veggies. It wasn't always like that for me though in the beginning it was only during dinner that I would add veggies, but then I read in Atkins that I should spread them out during the day so that I don't have any carb spikes from the veggies during one particular time of the day so that my blood sugar stays regular. So now I add veggies to my Omelets or Frittatas for breakfast, and my lunches when I do eat lunch (ok...yeah...eating lunch is my downfall...or I should say eating three meals a day...I'm really having a hard time with that...most days only get in two meals, but I'm really trying...really I am...'cause I think skipping meals has totally got me in stall mode right now...but that's another story).
So yeah, eat your veggies and I'll try not to skip meals. :D
By the way, adding some exercise in will help a lot too 'cause it's gonna burn up what little carbs you do take in from the veggies, plus it will light up your spirits. :agree:
