I started a few weeks ago at 276 and am now down to 259. I've done lo-carb several times before and have lost and gained a good deal each time, but this time is different. I've gotten a grip on childhood hang-ups that were holding me back and this feels like a different journey then before.
I'm a 47 year old stay at home mom of 7. I was a research scientist and professor for 10 years before deciding that the kids were more fun. I kept on 10-15 pounds with each child and I can no longer blame my weight on the baby who is now a preschooler.
In the past I alternated between a low carb liquid diet that includes a daily atkins like meal and an occasional week of Lean For Life (low carb similar to Atkins) and plan to continue that. It worked why fix it.
I'm looking forward to following all of your posts and getting to know more about you.

Marie Welcome to the TDC and good luck to you on your weight loss journey! I'm a stay at home Mom too and like you, decided that kids were more fun than working so I "retired" when my last one was born! I have 3 and they're alot of work. I can't imagine 7! If nothing else, I bet you get alot of exercise just keeping up will all of them!

I appreciate the welcome so much.
I should clarify one thing, having 7 kids is not that hard. It's easier then having 2 or 3 because they entertain each other. Out of necessity they have to pick up after themselves and they learn not to bicker because it raises the noise level to high and it creates chaos. That large numbers of siblings is easier then 1 or 2 is one of the best kept secrets along with how not to gain too much weight when pregnant with them

Hi Marie,
Your stats are very close to mine. I am 47 (48 in July) and felt I have just gotten all those old hangups figured out. One of the big differences this time is that my DH is on board this time and my kids are all old enough that if they turn their noses up at my food they can cook their own.
I was a workaholic educator until Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia got in the way and now I love being home (wish I was healthier though) with my kids.
I just want to send out my good wishes to you and hope to see more of you or "less of you" as the case may be, soon.
